Hey guys,

We have just come home with our newborn. We have a 3 year old jerk.
He's always been very playful and he's big and fast. Nothing has happened yet, but we're wondering what steps to take with making sure Z is affectionate and not aggressive towards our new baby.

Right now my wife is in the bedroom feeding and Im out in the living room petting and cuddling him. We've been gone for almost 4 days.

There is a long chapter on this in The Trainable Cat by John Bradshaw and Sarah Ellis! I love this book and used the chapter on integrating cats with great success.

I hope this helps. I would give him a cat tree in the nursery so he can observe the baby safely/ Also now is the time to start buying cat shelves & cat trees. So he can be up high when your baby is running around.... you might want to give him a safe room during the day, where the baby is not allowed to run/crawl around.
