I came home tonight after a full day of shopping.
The kids had not done a thing as far as chores go.
My son had a friend over. He didn't ask if his friend could come in the house. So I immediately questioned him, but didn't lay into him too hard with his friend still here.( I have know his friend since my son was in kindergarten and he is now in high school). I save that for later so the kids don't get embarrased in front of their friends if it isn't a life or death situation.
I then asked about my stereo that is no longer working properly. My son imformed me that he was trying to hook up the VCR and dropped it. Now the display will not work. Not a HUGE deal because it still works but with no display lights. I "yelled" at him for touching things that don't belong to him. He offered to pay for it....
Right....14 yr old with no job.... I'll never see that money. So I told him he would be working it off removing the grout in the tile in the kitchen. My boyfriend decided to grout the tile grey without letting me see the color first. I hate the way it looks and want white grout. We decided to remove the old grout.....major pain is the a$$. Now my son will be the free labor.
My son is on high honor roll in school. He is a good kid with good grades. He is polite when it counts
always willing to help others and usually a good source of entertainment in our house.
I gave him the "you need to be responsible" lecture. I told him I expect him to do chores and make good decisions. (Having a friend in the house without asking, breaking things, etc.)
He then said "Mom....I'm sorry you can ground me. It's okay". How do you not laugh at that? He was serious! I asked him "Do you really want me to ground you?". He said "Yes". I told him if he would have lied about who broke the stereo he would have been in BIG trouble but he told the truth so now he can just work it off.
Does anyone else have kids who just make you
??
Oh the joys of having a teenager......
