I know that sounds funny but my middle cat who is 2 1/2 years old keeps peeing on my boyfriends clothes. She likes him and the litterboxes are clean but it is around the same spot in our bedroom that I keep on having to clean up.

I'm not really sure what the problem is but I want to put a stop to it. What would you recommend?

thanks
Deeee

In my humble opinion, I don't think she likes him. She's "marking" his stuff as her territory. Intruder alert!!!

I agree with KittenKiya's response. When my brother and sis-in-law were first married, her cat urinated in every single pair of his shoes (and, not just once).

It could be that the smell is still lingering, a dot of pee could have dribbled onto the carpet or something in that spot and that is directing the cat back to it. Other then that, the cat could have originally done it if the boyfriend is new or just moved in. They react to smells, maybe he wears heavy cologne that lingers on the clothes thrown on the floor or laundry basket. There is the possibility of a UTI but probably not since that is the only spot she is going.

Buy your boyfriend a laundry hamper or tell him not to leave his clothes on the floor

Make sure you wash the area and his clothes with an enzyme cleaner, otherwise she'll just keep going back to it.

i've got a similar problem, my female norwegian wee's on the sofa which we had to get rid of, on my jacket if i leave it on the floor, and now in the shower cubical. we've tried spraying feliway on these area's and using cleaning products that do not contain acetates, (however u spell it) and I was watching aa program called how clean is your house the other day and apparently non-biological washing powder to clean the area is supposed to get rid of the smell also 1 part vinegar 2 parts water sprayed on the area.

I have 4 cats a 5 year old female white moggy who is currently the dominant cat, the 2 sister norwegian forest cats (10 months old) and a male moggie 11 month rescue cat who is the wimp, a proper wuse ,Kitty regularly has ago at him (the older cat). What I think is happening in my household is Libby the bigger and more assertive NFC is trying to become the dominant cat, she goes out now and follows kitty about without to much agression from kitty. so I think they are bonding a bit.

We had a large black male Maine Coone who was Kitty's companion since she was a kitten for 5 years but he got run over in January, and kitty became depressed, as they were always out together. now the kittens are getting bigger I think she's getting used to them especially Libby who is allowed to get closet too before kitty starts growling. they are fine together when outside, (the other two are still not confident enough to go out yet).

I've been searching the net and buying loads of cat magazines to try and find out why Libby is peeing, and I'm sort of coming to the conclusion she wants to be the dominant cat which happens alot in multi cat households. so marking her territory....

if anyone else can enlighten me or give me advice please do so!!!

I would guess that the first thing you want to do is rule out a urinary tract infection.

My cat will pee on my boyfriends clothes if its on the floor or in the hamper.  She never pees on the couch it self but only if blankets are piled up on the couch then she will.  she does not just pee on the carpet only on something.  I have cleaned the clothes and the carpet and the blankets but she still pees now and then on them its beginning to be once-4 times a month.  He is very frustrated with her and we try to keep her out of the bedroom and keep the box clean.

I guess the positive is that everything is always picked up! Is he (the boyfriend) around other cats or dogs at all, a lot of times they spray to cover up another's scent.  I sense some hostility on the boyfriend's part too, she may be stressed about that.  It may be a litter box/litter issue too, you may want to change both and see if it helps. There is always a REASON a cat urinates like this, you just have to figure out what. It usually means they are stressed about something, or trying to mark something as their own. I take it she is spayed, unspayed females do this too. All the luck, keep us posted as to what happens!
