Hi!
I need some advice about Melody. I had been talking to some of you a month or so ago about spayed kitties going into heat. Melody was spayed as a very young kitten and about 2 yrs ago she went into heat. I took her to the vet and we did an exploratory surgery to find the ovarian remnant-to no such luck.
After two weeks she had not seemed to recover from her surgery-so I took her back and told them that something was not right-they sent her home and a few days later I took her back with the same complaint-something is still not right, my gut kept telling me that ( I am a vet tech). After doing an ultrasound we found that during the surgery her ureter had been damaged and her kidneys were backing up with urine. The next day we removed her left kidney, since it was too badly damaged, and said never again would we do surgery! I had heard that you could "stimulate" them out of heat which we did-but it was traumatic to all 3 of us (Melody, the vet and myself).
All has been well up till now, but over the last week or so I noticed her behaving as if she were in heat-I really don't mind too much but I am wondering if there are any concequences hormonally as well as physically that could be damaging. I certainly do not want to try the stimulation method again and she does not bleed, since there is no uterus but I am wondering how healthy it is for her? I would appreciate any thoughts or advice-I am just not sure what to do?
Thanks for your time-I know this is a long one!
