Hi all! After a year of blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, and more, my kitty finally had an endoscopy today. They took some biopsies to be sent out for examination, but the internal vet specialist seems to think he has a rare condition called megaesophagus along with an esophageal diverticulum. The good thing is that his weight loss hasn't been very extreme and he's had no bouts of pneumonia, both of which are very common with this disease. However, the more I google things the more anxious I get about long-term prognosis. The vet didn't indicate to me that this was life-threatening, and in fact said it was something that could be managed. So, I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this diagnosis? Is this something that I can manage over time?

For reference, my cat is 2.5 years old and around 10.5lbs.

Hi! I haven't had a cat with megaE but I've taken care of both cats and dogs with it, and they all lived long happy lives. It's been a long time but it seems like they either had to eat off of a very elevated surface so they weren't looking downward while they ate, and a few of them needed someone to lift their front end up after they'd eaten until they heard a burp, usually within 10-15 seconds or so.
