I was looking for a cat for my mom at multiple shelters yesterday and came across her. Before I knew it I was taking her home.
The shelter staff and I believe she was hit by car she has long lasting neurological issues because of it she stumbles a lot she’s deaf in one ear doesn’t have the greatest eyesight in one of her eyes is missing part of her dewclaw on one of her paws and has lots of skid marks all over her body that will most likely leave permanent scars, she walks with a wobble sometimes ,doesn’t jump very well and isn’t supposed to jump up and down from certain Heights or climb stairs. We believe she has a fractured rib or ribs and that’s just the beginning.
The shelter staff think she’s around five years old sohopefully she’s got a good long life ahead of her although I suspect she is older and it’s definitely not going to be easy she’s going to have permanent damage but she’ll fit right in.
I do need to note I went to the shelters specifically looking for a special needs cat. So I am not under estimating the task. I also worked in Cat rescue and took most of their special needs cases, so I am very familiar.
She has an excellent quality of life and that has been verified by veterinarians. She’s just going to do things differently and that’s okay.
So say hello to Penelope
