Hello TCS, hope everyone is having a great day.
I am in need of some advice on how to go about a visit to the vet tomorrow.
I had my cat, MJ, spayed in late 2012 after she had a litter at the age of one. (Terrible mistake on my part letting that happen to her before I got her spayed, I have grown a lot as a cat guardian since then.) The surgery went fine and she was back to normal within days.
Flash forward to this week, almost two years later. She has gotten more vocal than normal and has been attempting to run out the door whenever I come home. She is an indoor cat but I let her out in the backyard sometimes when I can watch her. So this week I just let her run out and stay with her outside for a half hour or so. I first thought she must just want to go outside.
Today when I left for work her vocalization turned more into low howls and reminded me of when she was in heat back in 2012. When I got home I decided to clean out the litter boxes in the backyard and let her join me. She seemed to be rolling around a lot more. When I was done and brought her back in she continued to roll around and meow/howl. I then became concerned when she stuck her little rear end up in the air a bit and did some head rolls. After some research online I called my vet and scheduled a blood-test for tomorrow afternoon. (Same vet who did the spaying)
The first thing the tech asked me is if I noticed any blood, I told her that I just cleaned out all the boxes and saw none. I then read up about UTIs in cats and I don't think that is the problem.
Sorry for all the back story... But it sounds like they will try to blow this off as a UTI, when I believe it could be left over ovarian tissue from the spaying. I know it's such a long time between the surgery and symptoms but having seen MJ in heat before, it just seems all too familiar.
SO, does anyone have any advice on how to stay calm with the vet and convey my concern about the left over ovarian tissue if they try to tell me its a UTI or some other problem? Or if anyone has any experience with this and could help me further attempt to diagnose the problem before the visit tomorrow.
As I finish typing this, MJ has calmed down completely and looks to be falling asleep..
edit: she's awake now and still has in-heat like behavior
Thanks for reading,
