Many of us select the cats we adopt. But you have been selected by your cat. That happens to a few fortunate people. Or cat staff. One of my two cats is a tuxedo tom.

I am sure I will be very unique being a 30 year old Male here. Lol

That's not nearly as uncommon as you might think, it's just a stigma that Cats are for women. I'm a single guy with 4 Cats and I'm totally fine with keeping it that way. Spend some time around here and you'll meet a lot more like this.
