No but thanks to someone on this forum I started using chick feed - the crumbles for the baby chicks - as litter and I love it. It clumps, is a whole lot cheaper than the clumping litter, and has very little dust. I get it at Tractor Supply.
Yeah. i tried that a number of years ago. it worked fine and was, as you might expect, very affordable, being literal chicken feed. There was just one problem, chicken feed attracts mice, so I had to go back to clay litter.

These days I use the litter breeze system which I've been quite happy with.

Those are some fool hardy mice if they're braving a house full of cats for the corn litter. But maybe you were talking about where you store it. I'm on the second floor in Florida where most of the creatures - knock wood - stay on the first floor.

Hi just throwing my two cents in ….smiles

I have used lots of litter from all of Fresh steps
and all brands..over decades...

After having used all of them at different times

I settled on
Arm and Hammer clumping unscented.

When we hold or stroke
Lily there is no scent or fragrance

because she is now using the Arm and Hammer
unscented litter...

Her eyes are clear and she has no breathing problems
with this unscented litter..

We do not have stuffed up noses anymore...
Yes!!

I just looked on Chewy.com and just saw the "fragrance free" which I got once but it did have a strong smell. Would you be able to post a screen-shot of the on you use ? I've been using chick feed crumbles, but it's kind of a schlep to Tractor Supply and they're rotten to their e

I got all excited when I saw your post and then the cost on Chewy.com, but then I remembered that I tried one of Arm & Hammer's "fragrance free" litters a couple months ago and thought it had a strong odor. Other people mentioned this in the site's feedback. Could you post a screen shot of the type you use ? Maybe there's also an "unscented" that I didn't see just now when I searched.

Hi here is the one we use..
so glad you contacted me..
I took a picture for you and others to
see it..
Lily is doing well with this one
no allergies ,no stuffed nose
and we benefit from the same..

Another tidbit...
I wet with plain warm water

about 8 papertowells and squeeze them out

I lay Lily on the floor on a towel and I start
at the paws and legs and work toward the sides
and belly and last the face ...

You can save the body area till last that the cat
does not like touched as much...start on another area …

I bathe her this
way every few days..

I then dry her with small towel
that will keep the litter etc off the cat...

let me know you saw this as not sure I posted the reply
correctly..have a nice day!

the ones that are like Fresh step extreme etc are going to have Clorox in the litter...

I used those for months and just had to stop as it made me breathless and sure it bothered the cats...noses and knowing that was on their fur 24 hours a day..then on our chairs and beds etc.

we had 2 cats but we cleaned out the litter 3 times a day or 4...scooping..Our cats like us wanted no ones mess in their
large litter box...

We only have lily now but she has a the large litter box
and this works great...

I need to post the picture
I will go get my camera and do that now.

This is a storage container you buy at the store that starts with Wal...It is a hard plastic and he had to use a hand held saber saw to cut the entrance hole... It did crack the plastic a little so my husband said you might want to get softer plastic in a storage container to make you a big litter box.

The benefit of this box is the cat can turn around and not be crammed in the box...you can take the top off when you scoop and then fasten it back ...

One can also just get a plastic storage box 30 inches long and 8 inches high on the side..and not use the top..
The cats can climb over the side and get in it.

That works great also....even for young cats....
just get wide and long plastic container
but low sides ...

someone please post this on any area ...general or otherwise for new cat owners to view it...for the future..

Hope that helps a lot..for everyone..

It's a great idea and I tried it, but they either refused to go in (guess they didn't like feeling enclosed), or faced in such a way that they actually peed and pooped outside the entrance hole.

No. They really did go inside the litter box ( a mechanized one no less...) to get the corn litter. it was pretty weird and disturbing.
