Tomorrow makes it three months since I adopted Remy and Maisie and Remy is basically my best buddy while Maisie is still skittish around me. Maisie was in foster care for two years because she is very shy and I knew going in it would take time.
Tonight I was sitting on my couch and Maisie came and sat on my bed (which is directly behind my couch because I live in a tiny apartment) so I let her smell my hand, then tried to see if she'd let me touch her, which she never allows, but tonight she let me. I started petting her and I realized she was purring! I am such a proud cat mom right now! It's so rewarding to have her feel comfortable around me. I was telling a coworker today how I am not an emotional person and here I'm getting emotional about my cat letting me pet her.
I just needed to share my excitement.
