Hey all. I was kind of hesitant to post this, because it seems that my latest attempts at cat rescue haven't turned out too good, but hopefully this one won't be too complicated.
This is Junior (http://www.geocities.com/bmphan/junior.htm), who I've been feeding for a couple of weeks. I think he's related to another black feral I've been feeding but haven't been able to trap yet. I really don't want the colony to grow, but I couldn't not feed this guy, so I want to get him neutered ASAP. I found him, by himself, just sleeping on my lawn one day.
My vet won't do early neutering, and he's the one I need to go to so I can use my voucher. He said he'll do it as young as 4 months, but preferably 5 months. I have no idea how old junior is, but based on his appearance when I found him (very round, slightly wall-eyed eyes; kittenish-squeal; and of course small size) I'm guessing a little older than 2 months? I was thinking of trapping him and bringing him to the vet to get an estimate on his age, but I really don't want to risk having to release him (for being too young for the operation) and not being able to trap him later when the time comes. I can show the vet these pics, too, on Saturday when I have time (he doesn't have internet in his office, according to the vet tech).
Anyway, the plan is to neuter him at the appropriate time. This one shouldn't be a problem; there are no third parties involved and he's in my neighborhood, and will be released back into it. Cat rescue can be so frustrating at times, but this should be a simple plan to carry out. As you can no doubt tell, I'm feeling a little inadequate as a rescuer!
