This past weekend was for Ricky Henderson at the Oakland A's ballpark. Ricky got inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame the first time that he was eligible. Ricky is baseball's all-time leader in steals, runs, leadoff home runs and unintentional walks. We saw Ricky steal many bases and he was just incredible!
Anyway, Sat. we got to the park 3 hours early to get the Ricky Henderson jersey with his number, 24, on it. There was a really nice ceremony and the A's retired his number. He was only the fifth to have it retired.
Ricky made a great speech, too.
Sunday, we went to the game and we each got a 3x5 foot - yes, foot, banner of Ricky stealing his 1406th base to break the all-time record. The banner is, er, large, and we have 3 of them. Okay, I am a die-hard A's fan and Ricky is one of my favorite players, but 3, 3x5 foot banners?
