My new kitten has been identified as a torbie. Her coloring is quite different than my parent’s tortie, who is much darker. Phoebe looks grey and cream with reddish spots, although her back is darker than the front, almost black with a dark grey pattern.

Is she considered dilute, or is it just the mixture of black and red that makes the grey and cream?

I dont think she is dilute but not 100% sure. Her black areas are pretty dark on the face but some are more blue. I am not sure if partial dilution is possible, I don’t think so, but it could be the fur mixing too. Here are pics of dilutes calicos / torties. Black goes to blue and red goes to cream, white stays white.

Do you have more pictures? If she has black markings she's not a dilute. Brown torbies (or really black torbies) can have unique colorings. My girl has grey, brown, two different oranges and black.

She must not be because she does indeed have quite a bit of black. It’s like her front half was dipped in tabby and her back half in tortie.

Thanks for your response. Beautiful kitties!
