    Hello all!
After a long absence, I'm back for more of your wonderful advice and hlp since the last time I needed it, I received so much. (:

So, I finally got one of my female cats, Izzy, spayed on the 16th. Today is her third day and her very last day of pain medication. She's been pretty good but hasn't really let me peek at her incision, but she has been eating and drinking and probably more active than she should be. However, today after I gave her her medication my boyfriend and I left and were gone pretty much the entire day and then some. When we got home, I checked her incision and it looks like this:

Is this normal? The incision site is also warm to the touch. Our vet is open for a few short hours tomorrow so we can make it out if we need to, but if not then we'd have to go to the emergency vet which is... quite far away and honestly, the hours suck. Just wanting to know if I need to take her in tomorrow or if I'm overreacting which, lets be honest here, is totally something that I would do. Thanks in advance guys!

It looked like it was oozing and dried up. Is she given a cone? If not I’d suggest you put one on her to prevent her from licking on the incision. The site has be kept dry for it to heal.

Spay incisions usually heal within a week if not disturbed. You really don’t want this to be infected. Please take her to the vet soon.

For some reason I can't see the picture. Three days post OP they usually don't look great, as long as there isn't any oozing of colored pus (clear liquid with maybe a little blood is normal) a lump at the site is normal. i have never used a cone and everything has always turned out well, a little licking is normal. If she is eating/drinking/using the litterbox, everything should be fine, or at least wait until your vet is in. It's great she is moving around and eating, my last little one didn't for three days! You could also take a few pictures and bring them in if you don't want to stress her out. Please post another picture so I can see it, I have had MANY spayed and should be able to tell.

I thought I was the only one who couldn't see the picture. I thought it was because of the stupid internet censorship here. I guess not.

For reference here is my cats abdominal incision in 3 days:

I have attached the file to this, apologies for the picture not loading. I noticed this last night but it worked for me after a refresh of the page.

The bump has gone down quite a lot and so far there is no odor. I didn’t check to see if it was warm to the touch. Izzy is up and moving around and doesn’t appear to be suffering from anything but I just wanted to make sure that she isn’t in any pain!

I don’t have a cone but as far as I can tell, she hasn’t licked at it a whole lot. Then again, I was gone most of the day yesterday.

It doesn't look infected to me. An infected site gets 'angry' looking, a lot of red and drainage. It also gets worse rather then better as in the swelling going down.

Like I said, I’m probably way overreacting. I just wanted to make sure that I don’t miss warning signs and it gets badly infected. She’s been through a lot already; the vet also removed two teeth while she was spayed. Thank you for your comment, it’ll make me feel better if everyone tells me it’s not infected, lol.

The incision should be the same temp as the rest of her body, and when in doubt you can always try to smell it. Infection has a distinctive amell, but that bump/swelling looks a tad worriesome, imho. I'm glad it has gone down!
please keep us updated with how your fluff is doing :)

These are pictures I just took. The bump is not warm to the touch and it looks like it has gone down some. I also did just catch her trying to lick it, so maybe this is from her trying to do so?

She is active, eating and drinking regularly and is also going to the bathroom. There’s no odor to it, as well.. She says thank you all for your help. (:

Ive uploaded a pic of my kitty's sutures from yesterday. There's no swelling, if we were to compare, I would say take her for a check-up? I took my first kitty to the vet when her absorbable threads started to absorb because there was a bump under her skin about a third of the size of yours, because I didn't know why she was swelling up lol. My kitty's stitches are done differently though, my vet sewed the ends with absorbable threads and then pinched the skin with a silk stitch to keep her from tearing them --she climbed on top of the fridge this morning and made me panic. If you gently press on the bump, does it go inside her abdomen? If so, it might be a hernia. I tend to overreact when it comes to my babies' health, but my motto is better safe than sorry :)
