Hello. My boyfriend and I have recently took in a stray female cat, she is super friendly and was definitely someone’s pet at some point but we couldn’t find an owner. We started introducing our cats through doors and they seemed to be getting along, or at least tolerating one another. They were out and around each other, slept in the same room and everything for two days when our stray attacked our gray cat. So we immediately restarted our process, a couple weeks later we tried again and same thing, stray attacked. Our next step was getting the stray fixed, she is now healed and we are waiting another two weeks at least (6 weeks approximately for the hormones to completely leave her body) to try them face to face again. They are fine again through doors, some growling on our gray cats end but they bat each other’s paws and sniff one another through the crack but anytime gray sees the stray in her cage in the bathroom she gets defensive, growls and hisses. Any tips for reintroducing them? I’m afraid we’ve ruined the trust between them and we’ll have to get rid of our new kitty
