well, i probably won't shoot him, if he doesn't attack me.
he is big enow to take down a young antelope.
but, then, i gotta feed him.
critters that eat my mice get tended to.
if i knew he was around, i would have kept her indoors for the heat.
i have helped birth cows, horses n dogs, so i guess i can help her.
i'm just worried that her hips are too small for the possible size of the huge beast's kittens.
any kittens that live will be my responsibility n will live here.
i'll have to do a wholesale neutering.
i am not a cat lady n need no extra cats indoors, but i can keep lots of barn cats.
this will only be a problem if drifter can teach kittens how to stay alive on the plains.
i won't work thru a shelter tho. i can place cats with most any rancher.

What is a "wholesale neutering"?

Many years ago, my uncle had a little piece of land for horse stables apart from his and my aunt's house. He started feeding 2 or 3 barn cats and within a few years, he had a couple hundred cats over-running his property. Just sayin'. ;)

oh, all the girls will get fixed, if i can afford it.
some will get eaten, anyway.
do you remember a month or so ago, i found huge droppings? then i tried to trap whatever it was?
the animal moved that big heavy trap.
the droppings were like 6'' long by 3/4'' long.
now, i know what i was trying to trap.
this may be the biggest domestic at in the world.

Are you sure it's a domestic cat? There are some wild cats, I'm not sure where they live. He probably heard Drifter yowling when she was in heat. Cats will travel really far to mate. How far away is the nearest vet? It costs $145 here for a spay and $16 each for the Rabies and FVRCP Distemper vaccines. I'm not sure if the new 3 year Purevax vaccines are the same price, I will have to ask my vet.

I don't know if you'd be comfortable doing it, and I'm not even sure I would be, but I've read on other threads that vets will spay cats in very early pregnancy. Something to consider, if you can get her to a vet soon.

I just read another thread where a cat had to have an emergency c-section, and died of kidney failure from the surgery several days later. Also, only 2 of 4 kittens survived birth, then another died. There's only 1 left now, and no kitty mama to care for it. That's all on the human mama's hands now.

So if Drifter's possible baby daddy is really that big, you might want to consult a vet for their advice about dear Drifter.

bearing in mind that i've seen this animal only once, a pic is unlikely.
i googled largest cats n came up with this.
i see the maine coons get to 25 lbs so huge cats are possible.
i guess i'll feed it.

not sure about the cheeks. that pic is of a chartruex, which are big.
not sure how i can feed it
i'd like to train it to come to call, but drifter will come if i call.
i can't afford an abortion or neutering, so drifter will have to take her chances.
a februrary litter will not be pleasant, but we will cope.
what i need is a way to strap drifter to a board.
that would allow getting pills down her n helping in a hard delivery.
i have helped cows horses n dogs, so if i can immobilize drifter, i can help.

With all due respect, spaying is a one-time expense. Having 3 to 9 hungry kittens and 2 feral adults to feed is ongoing. Your monthly pet food bill is likely to be higher than the single surgery cost.

...and....no strappie kittie to any boardie, okay?

There are mobile vets that spay/neuter/vaccinate ferals for $50, but the cat has to still be feral. Drifter might qualify since she still lives outside sometimes. What do you think, Orange?

The low-cost clinics around here are $60, and I think they do have a mobile clinic schedule at the same price. Both Farrell and Misfit were TNR'd as a free county service. The city Humane Society also offers free service for ferals. Not sure how they'd feel if they knew I ended up domesticating Farrell instead of releasing her, but that was not the original plan. I need to donate some pet items or money to them.

why not strap a cat to a board?
the rogue male is grey, much like the pic, but with less body fat.

I had two cats growing up that had babies. We didn't have to help them at all. We just woke up and the babies were there.

So, don't keep us in such suspense. What is going on over there in the high plains? Did you let Drifter out to see her boyfriend or are you keeping her in from now on? If he's a British Shorthair, that would be cool, but I doubt one could get from London to the high plains.

well, the heat is over, so she does go out. only the last day of the heat was i able to keep them apart.
she isn't running of to see him mush.
when i let her out for her 8pm potty break, she came back in 10 minutes, like she's supposed to.
what i got is the crankiest cat ever. i just have to look at her, while she's lying on my legs n she's ready to box.
good thing being cranky doesn't change her scheduale. she knows she comes in around 5pm n goes out at 8pm.

then she stays in til 6am. goes out n comes to breakfast at 9am.
then out for a while but if i go out she gallops in.
i would never have let her out if i thot there was any chance there was a boy around.
she likes staying on a schedule.
i see little use in keeping her cloistered now, tho i could if you see a reason.
i'm not sure something that big could even enter her.
i'm not talking great big man with petite woman, i'm talking full size horse with miniture
pony.
this thing's droppings were 6'' long by 7/8'' thick.
that's why i didn't ID the droppings
the cage i tried to trap it in is probably 15-20 lbs. the trap was tossed around the garden.
the only reason i think this a domestic cat is his ears.
all wild cats i know have long pointy ears.
this thing for sure has house cat ears.
i wouldn't wanna raise goats with cats like this around.
i doubt he has to hide from coyotes.
i left out kibble for him.
iwould like to attract him with milk, but drifter ate half the food already.
she thinks it tastes better outside.
not sure how to call him for supper.
drifter will come if i call.
if he eats here, i'll see if he wants to be my kitty.
i'll need one heck of a house tho. he could never turn around in the cooler house.
if he eats here every night i'll try what i did with drifter. a few weeks feeding at nights with a call, then i'll start feeding days.
then, i'll lie down out there, if i get brave.
