I don't see how you can get rid of all the urine in garden soil without completely shoveling it out and refilling with fresh soil. That's not practical anyway, so I think all you can to is get most of the poop out of the soil. I'd bet she's selecting multiple areas to pee and sticking around that same spot to poop.

That must be a relief to see her getting better! Glad the meds are working. :)

I do think cats feel something similar to "love". A cat will gravitate to some people and completely avoid other people. I don't know if that's "love" or "hate" feelings as we define the words, or they just like the way some people smell and think others stink. :lol2: Seriously though, cats do form bonds with certain people (as well as with other animals on an individual basis).

talk about changeable. friday n saturday kitty came only to eat .
the last two days, she has stuck to the garden n has been very cuddly.
not sure why.
she's sick,
or the meds are affecting her,
or increasing her food so she didn't need to hunt.
she spent hours in my arms, today.
i only pulled her to me twice. now she comes to lie flat next to me by herself.
i stop reading n just cuddle because when this becomes habit, she won't panic if i pick her up n hold her.
cuddling is fun, but has drawbacks. every time we finish i have to run to the shower n get clean clothes.
one thinks of cats as fastidious n clean. but this cat thinks she's a dog.
she likes rolling in the dirt.
i thot her coat was dull n lifeless because she was sick.more likely, its just full of sand n debris.
if i ever saw an animal that needed a bath, she is it.
i am not sure i'm allergic to her.
i may just not be able to get so close to the filth she carries.

i gotta admit that cuddling this wild ferocious beast is fun.

My ferals were really dirty, but as soon as I took them in, they started grooming themselves. It's like they let themselves go in the wild, but after human contact they start cleaning themselves again.

4 days ago my female who was a feral herself when i saved her a year was chased inside by a other feral cat, i slammed the door on both, now i have experience with a feral kitten and im learning day by day. at first this male cat was terrified of me and hid everywhere. he refused to eat any cat food that i attempted to give him until this morning when i broke down and bought a bunch of liver pate and tuna. he eat some of that by me spoon feeding him. youre lucky she eats normal cat food. not all feral cats will. and im lucky this cat has warmed up to me this quickly but i have kept him separated from my other cats and lilies two kittens. do not give her reg milk cats are lactose intolerent and it will give her the runs badly which isnt good... yet he does still hiss at me and growl at me and has attacked me a couple of times. i will not give up on him..

Dust suffocates fleas so that's why cats like to roll in the dust. A good healthy outdoor cat shouldn't have many fleas. If you see a lot that may be a sign she's unhealthy. But hopefully the antibiotics will take care of that. Sounds like everything is going great!

onfire, you really should try friskies kibble.
many here don't think it's best, but i have
never met a cat that didn't like them.
that amoxicillin is a wonder drug. for the first time,
there is no blood discharge from her eyes.
she is back to normal, which means i can't get close
enow to check her breathing, but there is no more cough.
she never did lose her appitite.
i think she has known hunger, so eats whenever possible.
since this is the high plains, she has often been thirsty,
so she drinks lots.
animals here learn to do these things, or they die.
she is an animal of the plains.
worthy of love n care.
i treasure her ability to stay alive where most cats die.
if i could get a litter, i would.
hers is a very good bloodline.

My two ferals are really picky too. They like Friskies Shreds the best right now for canned food. Sometimes they will eat the Pates. They used to eat Friskies dry food, but now they seem to prefer Purina Cat Chow Complete in the blue bag. I tried more expensive foods, but they won't eat it.

when i took out her supper, i called n called n she didn't show up.
i had brot a book so i started to read.
then, i looked up n she was on the roof.
i told her to come down, but she ignored me.
she is very good at ignoring me.
i know for a fact that she understands come here, but she only comes if she feels like it,
it is very cool how she uses ladders.
going up, she just climbs the upright.
coming down, she uses the rungs.
she puts her front paws on a rung, then her back paws.
then she balances while she gets her front paws on the next lower rung.
since this is her first ladder, she just learned this.
cool.
she finally got down n sauntered over for a bite.
this was important because next to her food was tuna with antibiotics mixed in.
this was not a cuddling day, after she ate she climbed the fence n sat on an upright, 6' up.
some days, she just wants to get high.
i could take the ladder down, but it's at the far end of the garden. so, she goes from the coyote proof garden to the coyote proof roof.
i won't discourage anything that keeps her safe,

That's so funny about the ladder because my cat Demi just did the same thing the other day! He climbed a step ladder using every rung just like a human would climb it. I was so shocked, I didn't know they could do that. He didn't know how to go back down it though.

yup. you know, someone told me there's an old saying to the effect that you never find skeletons of cats in trees. since that's true, they will always find a way down sooner or later.

It's all right. Just make sure the active ingredients for the "dog" version are the same as the active ingredients for the "cat" version. The dog version is usually cheaper.

(If the ingredients are in fact different, then Do Not Use it on Drifter.)

There's some government regulation that makes manufacturers label any product that is marketed for dogs to carry the "No Cats" warning with the words "Do not use on cats".

I use the Frontline for dogs on cats. The ingredients are Fipronil 9.8% and (S)-methoprene 8.8%. If my memory is correct, the "cat version" is actually stronger than the dog version on one of those ingredients.

Hold up. I don't see a cat version (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Also the dog version uses Permethrin which I don't think is safe for cats. (Correct me if I'm wrong again.)

Don't use it unless someone can confirm the ingredients are safe.

Can you return and exchange it for a product safe for cats?

Dog version:
Imidacloprid
8.80%
Permethrin*
44.0%
Pyriproxyfen
0.44%
Other Ingredients (not specified):
46.76%

OK, DON'T USE ADVANTIX ON DRIFTER:

"Bayer makes two different flea control products that can easily be confused with one another, leading to potentially lethal complications in our feline family members. Advantage has formulations approved for both dogs and cats, while the product Advantix is intended for use in dogs only. Advantix causes permethrin toxicity in cats, which is a common emergency I see, especially during the spring and summer months, when fleas are at their peak of peskiness."
