A few days ago the trip to the vet yeilded a good prognosis, except that she said that Bean Bean was a bit on the hefty side. He weighs 18.5 pounds!!
He was such a good kitty, just sitting there for the vet even though he had to get awful shots and an ear cleaning!
Anyways, she recommeded that I invest in a couple of "Food toys" so that he would have to work more for his food and to stimulate his brain. Well we bought these pull apart plastic balls with a hole in one side that you fit kibble into, then the cat rolls it around to get his food.
Well despite a couple of days of attempting to show him how to use them and denying him food in his bowl almost all day, I didn't think he'd ever figure it out. He just was content to watch us roll the ball and then eat the food!
Well this morning I hear a little rattling sound comming from the foot of the bed and I peek down to see him rolling the ball with his nose and happily eating his reward!!!!
And here I was thinking about making him a simpler toy and he goes and proves mommy wrong! He's not a dumb kitty!! It brought a tear to my eye because I've never had a kitty learn to do anything like that!
And I know that it's probably not uncommon, but it's soo special to me right now.
