Thanks, ArchyCat, Good info to know. We have some Neosporin in the house but not sure off-hand which sort it is.
Here's a photo of Bowie after I rescued him from the tree and gave him his first bowl of food.
I was initially using Hydrogen Peroxide to clean his wound. He wasn't all too happy about it but he let me and wasn't aggressive. Ne even jumped up on the trashcan when I asked him to, so I could access it easier. If anything, I think he enjoyed the attention.
I also bought some styptic powder but haven't used it as it states it shouldn't be used for deep wounds; and I also bought some wound spray for cats. They'll both come in handy for later.
But of course, I need his wound to heal from the inside out, with the infection gone in the process. If the wound heals while the infection is still ongoing, it will likely develop into an abscess.
I'm pleased to report after only 3 days on the Cephalexin, Bowie is already showing signs of improvement with no side effects. His injured eye is looking better and he's not wheezing, snuffling and sneezing. I'll give him the full course; I want to make sure his chest infection is good & gone and the bacteria do not get the chance to become immune to the medication.
I'm not familiar with BF1 powder... Is this a human or a pet product?I have always sworn by BF1 powder.

Thanks, Jefferd18, We'll do our best to get some of this. Both, and it goes way back.
My grandparents use to just go into the stores and pick some up, but now you have order it through the pharmacists or online. I used it on a female half grown cat who literally got part of her behind torn off by an older cat (it was really bad), and she healed within a couple of months.
It is cheap, it works, and it last forever.

We've looked online for this BFI powder but can't seem to find anyone who sells it. There are reviews on Amazon from several years ago and everyone raves about it. There is someone selling 1.25 oz of it for $400!!?? Perhaps the product has been discontinued now. Thanks, Jefferd18, We'll do our best to get some of this.

Hi Jefferd18,You can get it online on Walgreen's website.
Shadows Rescue, I've never found shaming to be motivating. Just the opposite.People that are doing their best to help homeless animals deserve tact and support, not a scolding. It really is NOT a good idea to be giving cats human medication. It really could do more harm than good. He could have a reaction to the dosage or fillers in the medication. He needs to be seen by a vet. Have you tried your local Humane Society or ASPCA. Also check the links above for help.
Also by feeding the strays without having them spayed/neutered is just making the cats strong and healthy so they can breed. There is a saying "If you feed, they will breed". Getting the toms neutered should be a top priority. Keep calling rescue groups. They are often swamped and take time to get back to people. Look for facebook pages for the rescues too. Sometimes, they communicate easier through Facebook.
Bowie is BEE-YOU-TEE+FUL and you are a wonderful person for rescuing him. Thank you for all you're doing for him, and the wildlife in your "field of dreams".Here's a photo of Bowie after I rescued him from the tree and gave him his first bowl of food.
Thanks for your support, tnrmakessense; I have to admit I was rattled by Shadows Rescue's remarks. It's not like I was proposing to give Bowie any old "human" medication... I'd done my research and due diligence and I had the skills and equipment to dispense proper and accurate doses of the right medication to help him.Shadows Rescue, I've never found shaming to be motivating. Update on Bowie @ 22/02/2020 - We've just dropped Bowie off with the local SPCA Humane center who have agreed to take him in due to his injuries. He'll be in quarantine for 10 days then at some time after that, I'll be able to adopt him into our family of humans and cats and we'll just have to pay the adoption fee. He'll be neutered, get his shots and injuries fixed. I'm both elated and apprehensive. But the poor guy- every time we saw him he had more injuries. He disappeared for 3 days earlier this week - I knew something had to be wrong for him to stay away that long. When he returned he had a badly swollen leg from the wrist into the paw. He could hardly walk. His ear was more chewed up and he had more scratches on his face. Please keep us updated- Bowie is a fine figure of a feline.
Congratulations! I am so happy for both of you. Bowie's world is only going to get better from this moment on. He is a cool looking cat and I am glad that he is going to become a permanent member of your family.Update on Bowie @ 22/02/2020 - We've just dropped Bowie off with the local SPCA Humane center who have agreed to take him in due to his injuries. He stayed close the next day but then that night while in his kennel he was attacked by a Raccoon that wounded him on his chest!
He'll be an indoor cat when we get him back. I expect there will be a few tantrums from him and/or the other cats we have but I'm sure they won't last long. Bowie has already been in the house a few times and there were no fights.
This morning, we had Bowie in the house, in a large carrier for a few hours while we waited for the SPCA to open. One of our cats, Shadow who is really laid back, stayed with him, close to his carrier, for a couple of hours, sending him calming vibes. He soon settled down and had a snooze.
I'll add more when I know myself.
