About the gasoline..I think that is against the law to have it in the house..
Your landlord should be on top of things regarding this. Not only are the fumes dangerous, just keeping it in a house is dangerous.. If your landlord will not take care of it, then call the Fire Department. I would not wait for the landlord to handle things.. this is serious...
