Last night, Simon decided to become rather adventurous. He was leaping, jumping, goofing off...catching my feet, landing on Esse...just being a rambunctious Siamese. He's only 1 1/2 year old, so I fully expect shenanigans. During his romp, he went from my computer chair to...well, he was trying for the bookcase. He made it onto the bookcase via a rebound from the wall. He looked around, kinda shook his head, and had an expression of "who put that wall there????". No indication of anything at all.
Tonight, while I was getting my dinner ready, I scooped Simon up and started to cuddle him. I saw a darkish shadow on his gum, so I adjusted my grip on him and peeled his lip back. There was a dark, dark mark on it, and it looked like a bit of a cyst (a sac) where his canine tooth lay over his lower gum. It was hard when I pushed on it, and it just looked absolutely wrong.
I put him down, and called the vet. They could see me in 10 minutes...so I popped him into my shirt (the best way for him to travel; he goes ballistic in a carrier), and my friend drove. Off to the vet we went, me looking very pregnant and the pregnancy yodeling as only Siamese can do.
He calmed down somewhat, and the vet got us right in. She looked at him, listened to my explanation of his errant flight last night, told me that none of her patients have ever seen something on their gums that she didn't see first, and told me to "go home. He's fine...it's not anything to worry about. Just a bruise."
I apologized for bringing him in on an emergency basis, and she laughed. She said the receptionist (who I've known for years) told her to see me, because I see things that other clients don't, and that I wouldn't get any sleep if I wasn't sure Simon was all right...
So yes, I'm a tad paranoid...but am I glad Simon's simply a blind klutz and not sick???????????????
You betcha.
Just thought I'd share an adventure of this wild bottle baby Siamese with you all; it's been a while!
