That is what I was told time and time again at the CFA show in San Francisco. I was blown away by the mellow cats there and the beauty of their breed. It was my first cat show, and I hope to make it to more. But every breeder I spoke with said they do not advertise their kittens, that they have long waiting lists for their kittens and that they do not always produce kittens year after year. I was quite impressed.Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45
I always had a waiting list for kittens, so I didn't need to advertise per say. I went to enough shows and took orders for future litters.
The one or two times I didn't have a pre-home for a kitten, that kitten when old enough went to the shows with me and put a "for sale" sign on the cage.
I'm assuming you do not show your cats?
Just curious. When is the last time you had a litter and when was the last time you showed your cats as a breeder? I recall another thread where you were discussing prices from the 70's.Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45

I do not show my cats but I have breeder/friends who most certainly do and from what I understand, it is frowned upon to sell "under the table" at shows now-a-days.Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45

Yes at TICA show you have to buy an exibition cage, right? You can't just put a for sale sign right on the cage as far as I know. Also, I noticed at the show I went to at least there were not alot of people from the public. There were mostly just exibitors. There was a small amount of time where people came in and walked around but i'd say there there were only about 10 people that walked past my cage. Maybe I was too busy to notice more though.Originally Posted by gayef

I advertise my kittens on my website as well. Is there not much competition there in sweden? There are just so many bengal breeders here that it's pretty hard to place kittens that easliy unless your extreamly well known. If you've only been breeding for only a few years then most likely in the US you need to advertise.Originally Posted by Sol
I advertise my kittens at my homepage and at the breed clubs homepage. That's all I need.
That's the funny thing. I get lots of people asking for kittens too-when I don't have any!LOL-murphys law. Granted, so far I have been able to place my kittens with no problem but I have had to advertise some and I can't rely on just the website for that =0(Originally Posted by SolarityBengals
When I created my web site I worked very hard to get other sites to link to it (any free lists). I'm also a part of TIBBA a breeders association that will place a link on their web site if you do a reciprical link.
The health food store where I buy my raw food for the cats has a bulletin board where you can put up pics of your pets. I put Meeka as my top pic and they get dozens of questions and comments each week. Now granted most of those wouldn't result in buyers but people that do raw food diets and are local will rank pretty high with me.
Gosh in the last month I think I've gotten about 10 inquiries. That has all been through my web site. I just work really hard to make sure my site is surfable and easily accessable. The funny thing is my site says all the kittens are sold AND I say I'm not expecting a litter anytime soon and yet I get calls and e-mails for kittens.
I haven't been to your site so this may be answered there, but is your site plainly dated with a recent date? When I was doing constant surfing looking for my M'oon boys (my sister coined the term, "Maine cOON get itOriginally Posted by SolarityBengals
