I adopted a cat from L.A.P this past Sat. I have a short haired male domesticated kitten 5 months old. He had all of his shots and was roundwormed there so they told me he does not need another vet visit for another year. Should I take him anyway just to make sure everything is ok even though he seems fine, with the occasional scratch of his ear and face (which he loves when I do for him)?
I want to check his teeth and cut his nails but not sure how to do it as I dont want him to dislike me forever....he jumps out of my lap when I try. I know I have to do it but guess I need to know how. I would also like to switch the food he eats from friskies and science diet to something better as I have gooten the impression from here they are no good; this is what the shelter fed him.
I really LOVE my kitten! His name is Ernie and he loves me so much already; he is afraid of my 2 year old (almost 3) and I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t blame him! My son gets so excited and just wants to play with him and he is LOUD and acts like….well…..a 3 year old boy, and I figure my kitten just needs to get use to him as they both grow together.
I am concerned about one thing however. He “meows†anytime I leave the room, meaning most of the night or if I am in the room but not paying enough attention to him. He is very loud. Is this normal for a new cat?
I would love to get a second but it is just not practical for us any time in the near future. What should I do?
I am in the process of getting him introduced to the entire apartment but he is taking things slow and only comes out of our living room when we are asleep to take a peek around. He seems to sleep a good amount of the day and stay awake at night.
Thanks all!
