I took my baby in for a check-up, she has been doing great with the exception of a few 'off' days here and there. The vet found her creatinine has gone up to 3.5. I was devastated. She has had a ton of energy and seemed really happy. The past two days after we brought her home from the vet she has been very lethargic which is likely due to the supplement the vet gave her.

The vet recommended we increase fluids to every other day, add a supplement (which made her very tired so I stopped giving it to her since yesterday), add Azodyl, and see a specialist.

I really don't want to take her to the vet again next week to see the specialist because she gets so traumatized but I guess it's my only option.

Has anyone else tried Azodyl? I'm reading wonderful things online and I'm really hoping it works as promised.

What kind of specialist? I've had three kidney cats and none of them every went to a specialist, just our regular Vet. None of mine ever went on Azodyl, but I have heard good things about it. We just never tried it because I've heard the pills are HUGE and we're not very good at pilling. As a matter of fact, even the Vet nor the techs could pill our last kidney cat. I swear she had the jaws of a pit bull even though she only weighed 5 pounds :rolleyes2:

What supplement did the Vet give your girl? The only one ours got was Vit. B shots. They never made her lethargic though. Quite the opposite. Did you call the Vet and let them know that whatever they gave her, and have you giving her, is making her lethargic?

Definitely check out those links Furballsmom Furballsmom provided. Here's the section of that website that discusses Azodyl in specific.
