Our shelter got the very sad news yesterday that one of our previously adopted cats Ivy would be sent peacfully over the bridge today.
Ivy came to us last year around Christmas time, with her sister, Holy. Holy tested negaive for FIV & FeLuk. Ivy tested positive for FeLuk. We had her tested at least 3 times just to be sure. She was only about 3 months old at the time. She was full of love and spunk. She stayed with us until July. In that time, we all became very attatched to her sweet kitten nature. We feared that she would not find a home due to her FeLuk positive status. However, we were contacted by a wonderful young couple that already had one FeLuk positive kitten the same age as Ivy. The adoption turned out to be a perfect match. Unfortunatly, a few short weeks after they adopted her, they found out Ivy had cancer in her intestines and lungs. Chemo Therapy worked great through September. It looked like she had made a turn around, but then a short time later it was discovered the cancer had moved into her bone marrow. The young couple fought with Ivy for as long as it was reasonable. Ivy had stopped running, jumping and playing. Then knew it was time. I am so thankful for the people that adopted her, they gave her a chance to know life outside of the cage. She had a kitty friend & two people who love her deeply. She had what every cat deserves, I only wish she could have had more time.
Ivy you touched so many hearts, you will never know how deeply you will be missed. I will always remember you as Spidy Kitty, climbing the walls of the isolation room. Go over the bridge now and find Jack he would love to play with you. Buddy will be there too, don't let him scare he is all bluff. Pumpkin Patty will be there to feed you and give you all the attention you need.
