Sorry if this sounds a little dumb but do cats playbite/ mouth or is a sign of something else ? My 11 month old ragdoll boy without making a sound will put his teeth around me. At night he will lie under my duvet and will lie on his back and will put his teeth around anywhere he can reach, seems to be when im drifting off and not playing with him. Through the night he usually very gently bites/ nibbles my fingers. He does it other times but mostly when in trying to Sleep. Since the passing of one of my other cats im always worried im missing something vital. He was at the vets for a check up last Friday and vet said he was in good health. Growing up I never had cats, only dogs so I sometimes out of habit think of when a dog would do these things even though I know they are very different.

It's just a way of getting your attention.  I like to think it's also a sign of affection..

Yes, cats can play bite.  They also give love bites to show affection.   If it hurts though, don't encourage it as he will continue to see it as acceptable behavior.

Biting is a form of affection, play, warning, or aggression. It doesn't sound like aggression and a warning bite, you will know he is mad before hand.

If he's not hurting you then he's showing love. Don't worry about it..In fact I'd enjoy it if my cats did that to me.
