Cover songs have been around for quite a while- after all, Elvis Presley's ' Blue Suede Shoes' was a cover of Carl Perkins' earlier version.

The music for Love Me Tender was actually from an old song named Aura Lee (or something like that). The words are from Elvis, but the music isn't.

Also interesting. According to Wiki, it's a Civil War song from 1861.

I've heard so many covers of this song, and they usually loose control of it after the 5th verse. He didn't and I'm impressed.

He has a gorgeous voice! It is my favorite version.

Another good one is Jolen by Miley Cyrus. I do not particularly like her, but she does a great job with it. She did another version with Dolly Parton, who is, apparently, her godmother.
