This is no big deal, but I've never noticed this before with cats.

I'll catch my Smidgey actually tipping the litterbox, by pushing down on one edge with her paw. I noticed all the litter on the floor around it, but I thought she was just a flinger, until I heard a 'tap.tap.tap." noise - and noticed what she was doing!

Any idea what she is trying to tell me?

For the record: She is very good about using her box, no probs ever in that area.

If she's trying to send a message, that might forever be a secret, but I think you can prevent this by using a bigger, high-sided box. If there's more litter in it, she won't be able to tip it. Hey, maybe that's what she's saying -- "I need a bigger box!!"
