Cami (prev Mona Lisa) was brought to CCSPCA in a horrible state.
Severly emaciated, terribly dehyrdated and weak. We aren't really sure of her background or where she came from , but despite having a fever of 105 and so much stacked against her - she remains so sweet and loveble! She is talkative and responsive to everyone she meets - social buttefly!
We picked up Cami 4/6 from the shelter and immediately brought her to the vet for a thorough exam, senior profile (bloodwork) and whatever else she needed. The vet recommneded xrays to ensure there wasn't any signs of pneumonia in her lungs as there are signs of a kitty cold brewing (runny nose, green eye goobers). We did everything they recommened for this sweet princess - including testing her thyroid.
Heart and lungs sounds and look great, xrays were normal, bloowork was all really good except for thryoid - her levels were off the charts - hyperthyroid - she will need meds to help with that (easily managed!).
Her temp was 105 - so we immediately started her on IV fluids and antibiotics and ice packs. She stayed over night for monitoring and IV -- this will help her feel so much better and help hydrate her much better than subq fluids or drinking alone.
4/7 - She is already feeling much better today, will start her thyroid medicine and will be on antibiotics to help kick the bacterial or viral kitty cold she is brewing. She will be monitored closely by her foster momma and hopefully it will be SMOOTH sailing towards a wonderful life! Hoping we can post some pics of her soon after she has put some weight on those bones - she is a big boned, long kitty in general...so beautiful...and a personality to match!!
Please consider donating to help us pay for her unexpected medical expense. She has had a very rough time lately, she didn't get this thin overnight and has been struggling for a while. Help us care for her and give her all of the very best!!! When we saw her posted on facebook, we knew we just couldn't let her die <3 - her soulful beautiful eyes spoke to us.
Here is the estimate for the 24 hours she will be at the vet...minimum $950. Please help!
