Hi,

I have a stray cat that's been roaming our neighborhood for a decade now.

I feed him all year around and keep him warm and well provided in the winter.
I've now noticed he has developed black spots (I presume bacteria) in and around his mouth.

Any idea what exactly it is,
and what I can give him as treatment?

If it's anti bacterial I can ask my doctor for a prescription

Thanks!

I’m guessing he’s an orange cat? I’m thinking that the spots you’re seeing could be lentigo, caused by in increase in melanocytes. This is age-related and purely cosmetic. That being said, it would be a good idea to get him checked over by the vet, just to make sure.
Yup exactly. My orange tabby started to get some around the age of 6 if I remember correctly and I freaked out but for no reason, as it truly is purely cosmetic.

If you could take a photo we could confirm :)

Aha, he is orange indeed, although he prefers the term "venetian blonde" :D

That's re-assuring, I'll see if I can take a picture, I never know when i'm gonna bump into him. He's probably around 10 years old, maybe a little older, very chill fella.

He always brings mice for my young kitten and lays it in front of the window, solid fella!

It looks exactly like the photos on the website you linked
