Can anyone suggest to me what the best photo editing software would be in your opinion? I don't have anything on my computer now but would like to start working with something.
The best and the easiest are 2 different things. I got Adobe Photo shop, payed a bundle for it and a year later i still cant use it well. If you want to just play with pictures and send cards and the such, any simple software will serve you .... want mine? I got 3 programs that i dont use. Why would i, i have adobe?
LOL! Thanks. Well on my old computer I had a program that was SUPPOSED to be able to edit photos and add them to cards and such. Yeah..... that didn't work so well. I am sure part of the problem is the user (me, he he) but it was a crappy program and way to hard to deal with.
I have many photo editing softwares but I always seem to go back to Adobe Photoshop. I guess it kind of depends on what you want to do with it. Do you actually want to repair and cut things out of photos? Or do you just want to do minimal tasks such as fix red eye and add frames?
If you want something to make cards, calenders etc. then Adobe photoshop is not going to really do that. I'd suggest something like "Picture It!" That's pretty easy to use and allows minimal photo editing, storage and lets you do fun things with your pictures such as frames.
I've used a program called PrintMaster Platinum for many years that I absolutely love for making cards, posters, calenders etc. But it doesn't really have a lot of photo editing stuff on it. I usually have to edit my photos somewhere else then import them into my PrintMaster program.
We use LViewPro - I will see if I can find out more information for you - it is easy, does a good job and I don't believe it is expensive - definitely cheaper than photoshop.
I work as a graphic designer and use Adobe Photoshop for all of my photo editing but it is expensive. There's another similar program called Photoshop Elements which came with my Canon digital camera, just doesn't have as many bells and whistles. Some photo editing programs come free with scanners and digital cameras...you should ask your friends and family if they have any.
Thank you all so much!!! I will probably pass on adobe then if it's really expensive. I will look into the other names you all gave me.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!!!
Adobe Photoshop is a fabulous program...but for most people who just want to crop. maybe edit red-eye out, and resize it is big-time overkill. Besides the price-tag ($600), it's very confusing if you don't want to do what graphic designers/artists/professionals do. That said, I do use it for work and for my web design and graphic design business.
It will do anything you can think of doing, but it is complex and expensive.
Photoshop Elements is a very good alternative. It is priced at or below $100, and considering what it is the price is very reasonable. It loses many of the bells and whistles that the average user won't ever miss to begin with, but pretty much all the cool stuff is still there.
For very basic photo editing, like cropping and resizing, Irfanview is free and does the trick.
My favorite photo editing software is Paint Shop Pro by JASC. I have version 8 but I think version 9 is the most current version. I have tried Adobe Photo Shop, but I found it too cumbersome to use. Everyone has their own needs and preferences. Most of all, you simply need software you can understand how to use in order to get results you want.
