After living in our house for a couple of months since the loss of our last cat, we are jumping back in.

Our vet stumbled across a bunch of kittens who had been abandoned in a nearby cemetery. He got some of the staff to come over to the cemetery with cat carriers, and they rounded up 13 kittens. When we had to put Loki down, he had asked if we would be getting more cats, and I told him absolutely. So, he called me the morning after they got the kittens just to let me know. :) They estimate that they are about 4 weeks old. We went to the vet's office yesterday to see them. We will be adopting 4 of them when they are old enough and have been vaccinated.

Here are pictures:

Now, we are working on names for these 4 boys. :whiskers::whiskers::whiskers::whiskers:

I endorse that course of action. Just shortly after losing my old man I rescued two kittens prowling around the dumpster out back. Going on a year since then now. Helped me getting over losing him. And since their personalities were completely different it didn't invite comparisons.

Cute little fellas. You might find it quite the challenge keeping up with the young fellas.

Oh boy, you really are jumping back in, four kittens! They're adorable. How long has it been since you've had rambunctious kittens in the house? :runningcat: :dizzycat: :runningcat::dizzycat:

It has been quite a while since we had a very young kitten in our house. Loki was the only cat that we had as a young (about 12 weeks) kitten. The others were between 9 months and 14 months. I am looking forward to the chaos and mayhem.

Kitten proof everything! Make sure they have lots of toys. Kittens are full of energy. Don't be distressed when they throw each other all over like mini wrestlers. It's how they learn to play nice. Speaking from experience, the contrast from an older cat is really something. My old man Sammie was basically a pillow that ate. These two youngsters get into everything.

Oh, my gracious! They are so adorable. Such unusual markings. Bless you for taking them in and if you need any help naming them, please just say the word.

And VinceL VinceL I just noticed your location. We are practically neighbors.

It's funny how easy it is to forget how "raising" kittens is such a task! I fostered a lot of kittens but it's different when you're raising them. The fosters usually left my house before they were out of the "silly kitten" stage. There is a rebellious stage where they know they aren't supposed to do something and they ignore you or even stare at you while they do it. At night I'd go to sleep just expecting something to get broken. Four is going to be chaos but it sounds like you welcome it! You'll have a full house!

I am so excited. We will have our 4 kittens in 2 days (this Friday)! :yess:

The pictures that I posted in my original post are not the 4 kittens that we will be adopting. We will be adopting the 2 darker tabbies (2nd and 3rd photos). The other 2 are coming from a shelter where our daughter volunteers (she does their spaying and neutering). They are both orange and are almost the same age as the 2 tabbies. Given their young age (9-10 weeks) I don't think there will be a problem with introductions. I do have a backup plan in case we have to do the standard phased introduction (which we have done many times in the past). They will initially be in a bedroom and bathroom. I have several scratching items, a new (small) cat tree and many toys. I am going to see if they will share 2 litter boxes. If not, I do have 2 more (Chewy was running a special). I have installed a camera so I can watch them even when away from home. I have crawled around the floor and done everything I can think of to kitten-proof the room.

The 2 orange kittens will be named Fred and Barney (Flintstones), and the other 2 will be named Yoda and Chewy (short for Chewbacca).

I'll be posting pics in a few days.

nurseangel, your signature says you are located in Sundarville, NC. Where is that? Google Maps can't find it.

Yesterday we got our 4 kittens. Two came from our local vet (they found 13 abandoned kittens near their office) and 2 from the animal shelter where our daughter volunteers as the vet who does the spaying and neutering.

This is the wild man, Fred. He is just full of boundless energy.

This is Barney. He is the chillest kitten of the 4.

Here is Chewy (short for Chewbacca, not Chewy.com :) ). It has been very difficult to get a photo with good focus...he is always moving.

This is Yoda. At the vet's office they put collars on all the kittens that they found. And, Yoda received a green collar. How appropriate.

The 4 of them are getting along pretty well. Yoda and Chewy rough house together and Fred and Barny play together. The 2 pair are interested in each other but haven't really played together. The 4 are sharing 2 litter boxes and are eating and drinking in the same area although not necessarily at the same time.

Considering they have been together for less than 24 hours, things are going great. :tabbycat::tabbycat::whiskers::whiskers:

And I'm sure you'll get it in droves, lol. But they are pawsitively precious! Love their names too especially since I grew up watching the Flintstones. Can't wait to see more pics and hear about their kitten antics.
P.S. I think that Yoda knows he's posing for a photo. :camera:

Our new kittens are so tiny....a little over 1 pound. We used a water fountain for our previous cats, so I figured I would get our new kittens started with a fountain. The fountain is a little big for them. But, here is Chewy using it.

Our kittens are growing up. They are between 4 and 5 months old. A week ago we let them out of the 2 bedrooms where they had been confined. They now have the run of about 2/3 of the house. We have cat toys throughout the house. Our house finally feels like home for the first time since March when we had to put the last of our 4 previous cats to sleep. This past week they were neutered, micro-chipped and received their rabies shots. They are not all sleeping in bed with us, but when I get up, all 4 kittens are in the bedroom with us and demand attention.
