Can’t hurt to chat. Explain your waiting for a call back but make sure they know how your mom May freak out if she finds out. IN my opinion your mother is verbally abusing you which is common in people with dementia please make them aware.

Seeing my Mom like this makes me wonder what will happen to me if I ever get to that. I don't have anyone to put me in a home and at almost 64 years of age I suppose I need to look into some provision to make for myself in that event.

I think the chat agent is also at a loss for words, I mean who throws a fit over a lousy can of soup? Just ask me to replace it and move on. The Mom I knew years ago would not have thrown this kind of a tantrum.

I talked to a care specialist. She said that without a diagnosis they really can't suggest much other than what has been suggested. And since Mom called the police on the nurse from Home Health Care then I may have to just "sneak around". Ugh this isn't working :(

I think I figured out how to get her diagnosed. I'll pretend that the diagnosis is for me at no charge claiming that a friend I went to school with was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's and that worries me as I have no one to take charge in the event something like that happens to me especially after Mom is gone so therefore I want to prepare for that event now but I need to have a check up first. I'll have to find some way of explaining the nurse and in the meantime have her doctor send someone for her, although being in early stages my Mom could very well put on an act that she's fine.

That sounds like a good idea.

If you only ask for advice on the cat situation, that may limit the kind of advice they give you. Try opening it up for a more general discussion of how to deal with her.

You can contact your mothers doctor and let him know your concerns regarding her actions and you think it’s dementia, make it clear she denies it and has good days and bad days. By HIPPA law he doesn’t have to discuss it with you but it’s a route that’s taken so the patients doctor is aware and he can check on her mental and behavioral health.

And if worse comes to worse contact a social worker telling them her behavior is erratic and illogical and causing concern for your and her safety and well being

Maybe not mention the cats at all? Maybe I should just say that I'm not allowed to do anything but stare at the 4 walls and jump when she calls? And mention the physical symptoms she has? I don't have insurance or a doctor so I have to come up with something that is believable under the guise the visit is for me.

I agree don’t mention the cats - in the end your trouble with them and arguments with her over them are a symptom of her deteriorating mental state. The cat situation gets complicated and muddies the real issue, which is that you can’t even have the freedom to take a walk or anything else without a fight but she is not healthy enough to live on her own.

Thanks. I'll omit the cats in the conversation then. And see if I can find a way for someone to come for me. I'll drop hints that I want to be diagnosed. We just had crazy man down here again
