The only problem I ever had with the Purina Layena getting moldy is when my basement had a leak and the bags got wet on the bottom. Then it didn't spread throughout, but was just on the bottom where the bag got wet. We have a problem with high humidity in this house and if there was going to be mold because of it, I'm sure I'd have it.
I've also never had any problems with bugs or rodents because of the chicken feed and I generally have at least three bags in my basement with one open. (of course with a population of 15 cats in and out all day, I shouldn't have rodent problems.)
