6 Month Old Kitten And Dog

I have a 3 year old dog Springador Barney and a 6 month old kitten Oscar who was neutered at the end of August. We had no problems introducing them and they seemed to be getting along but today I have let Oscar out in the room and when he saw Barney his tail fluffed right up and he looked petrified. Normally Oscar is the first one in the room then Barney comes in. As soon as he was out of the room his tail was back to normal and he was calmer.

Well, you could think about whether he barged in the room noisily/fast or whether he brought a weird smell from outside, but hopefully it falls in random temporary nonsense, the don't overthink it category. Supervise/orchestrate the next interaction and see how it goes -- maybe put down a pile of treats for kitty and walk the dog in the room quietly and give him a bone. Hopefully your back to normal.
