Good afternoon

thank you for al your responses greatly appreciated
I took my queen to the vet who confirmed early stages of mastitis. She said there is hardly milk! She gave her an injection Noroclav and gave me antibiotics tablets to feed her twice a day from the morning. She appears to have pjs and her body temp is not high but above average.

I have managed to hand feed the babies with a syringe but the soft teet kept falling off with the pressure of the syringe. Managed 1.5 ml each!

You said you're weighing them if I remember? Keep doing that, and if necessary supplement feed them :)

You're doing a terrific job, hang in there!
Hi there and thank you it’s been a difficult night/day but we all made it! I have been weighing them twice a day. They are all 7 days old day, each weighing 0.28lb/4.5 oz which I think is fine for now. They are still nursing from mummy despite me syringing them up! I’m assuming tiny amounts of milk are being released from momma. They seem as though they are starving!

The kittens were last fed at 4pm ish it’s not 7.40pm. They’re fast asleep. Should I force them to wake up and feed them or let them continue sleeping?
thank you

Are they awake now? If they're sleeping all comfy in a pile (rather than crawling around crying), that's a good sign :)!

Mama cat, when she moves back and forth, will wake them and then everyone typically will settle in for nursing, so I believe the answer is yes, until her milk comes in more you'll want to stick to the schedule;

The flow will improve over the next 2-3 days as her meds kick in. Syringe the kittens every 2 hours around the clock for now.

they were still fast asleep so I started feeding him/her then the rest one by one. I kind of forced them to wake up. 4-8pm is a long 4 hour gap.
is it ok to let momma cat feed them during the night? There seems to be something coming from her nipple but not much? I don’t exactly know. I actually haven’t been able to sleep properly so I’m a bit unsure if I should do the night feeds every two hours? Or let her feed them?

The kittens need to be awakened to feed on a schedule at this age. I suggest you feed through the night for now until you know for sure they are not losing weight. However, if a kitten absolutely refuses to drink from the syringe, then do not force feed. We just do not know how much they are getting from mom.

By the next night, you could try one feed halfway through the night if their weights are good. Also, how much are the kittens eating at each feeding?

How is mom feeling?

Hi cat people! I was hoping you could help me identify the gender of my kittens please. They all look male but it’s simply too early so I’m asking you if you’re confident enough to tell me. How long have you had to wait until you know the gender?
thank you!

Hello cat folk

one of my kittens has put on weight but has stopped compared to the others. The others are 0.44/48lb and this little one who was dominant is 0.34lb dropped from 0.36lb. I am feeding them 2/3ml every 2 hours with a syringe and he is nursing from momma.

Whenever I pick him up( I think it’s a him) his/her hind legs and down below are soaked. I notice pee dribbling constantly. The others don’t do this. If it is a boy then I think it’s his penis, but the penis looks very darkandswollen. Is this normal??? He/she is 10 days old. Please see image attached. I’m really worried because that area has a huge dark bulge and is always damp below.
Thank you

No, this not normal. Have you seen any of the kittens suckling on his genitalia? This is likely what is happening and it must stop. Separate him immediately into a box by himself with heat and a cuddly plush toy. His penis needs to heal.

Wipe him down gently with a warm damp wash cloth, keep him clean, and apply vaseline to the swollen parts.

You can give him time ALONE to nurse mom. If things do not improve, see a vet.

Also, how many feedings a day are you giving the kittens? Are you feeding overnight at all? How is mom doing?

The kitten who is losing weight may need extra feedings at night. Is this kitten getting pushed off nipples? You’ll need to see what’s going on. Losing weight at this age is never good.

Hello lovely people my kittens are super chunky, I have been feeding them everyday and so has my queen! Vet checked her and said she’s doing well albeit 2 tests not producing milk but the others are! My kitten that was losing weight has caught up and is now trying to climb the inside of the pen!

I have one question for you cat folk, I haven’t washed or changed the bedding where the kittens sit and sleep. No signs of poo but I have seen one wee. The only poo is located on their bottoms which I have been wiping away. Should I throw all the blankets into the wash now or will important scent disappear? Firstpicture is the dad, he loves watching them and being around them! Second picture is my little babies, should I throw their blankets in the wash?

Yes, wash and replace the bedding.

How is the kitten’s penis that was engorged and sore?
its strange
One day it’s completely normal then another it’s bigger than the others but 95% of the time it’s normal. The vet said keep an eye on him because the others may be suckling on him. I have kept an eye on him and he is striving, climbing all over and drinking.
