Mama Catss only wants human food

My maybe 7 year old (she was a stray six years ago) has become super picky about her wet food, I throw away more than she eats. I finally found a Fancy Feast "appetizer" she will eat, but that can't be good long term. (She has access to dry at all times - I'm not sure how much of that she eats...

    A Brush For Clumping Hair?

Hi everyone, I have a cat named Mostly Feral. Her name is an exaggeration but she’s not what you’d call social! Most people don’t know she exists because if she sees a human other than my husband and I she is in the basement in a flash. She likes face scritches from us so she gets lots of those...

Cat enclosures - do they work?

Hello everyone,  I have three indoor cats and we recently got an 8-month-old beagle. When we had dogs before (our 17 year old and 14 year old passed away in 2013) we had a dog door. The cats roamed freely as they had my whole life (we always had a dog door when I was growing up). But I didn't...

What's the longest you have had a spay stitch stay in?

Mama Catss was spayed in November. There is one stitch left. It isn't sore (I can tug it), it isn't embedded, the skin isn't red or growing around it. It is just a perfect little knot of wire with two little ends sticking out. I'm going to call her vet tonight, but is this totally weird?

    Change in cat dynamic

Some of you may remember, I joined this site in November because I had taken in a pregnant stray who had severe maternal aggression toward my other two cats. I was clueless about “introductions” and did everything wrong I could possibly do. I mean EVERYTHING wrong! Things turned out slightly...

    Enclosed/disguised litter boxes, any thoughts?

Does anyone have any experience with those hidden litterboxes that either look like potted plants or end tables? (yes, the hideously expensive kind.) We used to have two litter boxes in the basement and one in the small bathroom upstairs. With a third cat (stray) added to the mix, we now have...

Should we intervene? (Sorry this is so long!)

I posted a few months ago about a stray mama cat with severe maternal aggression toward our other cats. It was pretty ugly and nothing I had ever experienced.  I tried some of the advice from the forum (thank-you all), keeping them separated, feeding near each other, Feliway, etc. but...

Scary stray cat aggression to my other cats

We have two cats: Mostly Feral, as shy as she sounds, and Drama, a laid back, but vocal male. This August, a pregnant stray showed up. We didn't want to start a feral colony, so we housed mama in the spare room until she had her babies, all four of which we found homes for. She is at the vet...
