Well thank you for trying to take care of this poor kitty family! The poor little guy with the eye problems probably does need some medical attention though. Maybe your local shelter or rescue could help you get him some antibiotics? As far as what exactly came out of his eye, are you sure it...
Thank you for taking in 2 kitties and giving them a home! Truly wonderful :)
For the hairballs there are several products out there that work just great, I really do not have a preference. I use Lax a Nip, or Lax a Tone, because that's what I get at work, and both seem to do just as well as the...
I would start by giving him treats :) The way to a kitty's heart is through his stomach! Even if you're not actually going into the room, but just walking by, flick a treat under the door. When you do go in to visit, clean, or use the facilities, bring treats or a little bit of wet food with...
I would definitely be taking the kitty back for a check up. The incision site should be pretty much healed after 9 days. The good news, at least from what I can see in the pic, is it doesn't look infected.
Poor kitty first of all :(
But on the up side he should be ok. Cats usually heal amazingly well. Your vet may have preferred not to wrap the tail because if it swelled under the wrap the tissue could become necrotic and then the end of the tail would have to be amputated. This may also be why...
I would leave her separated for now. Introducing her to the other cats would be stressful in and of itself, even more so because she has a litter of kittens to worry about. Since she is in defense mode, they will probably end up fighting, even if they wouldn't have under more normal...
Yes, even the fine grain litter may not be too comfortable for her being a declaw. I would probably start with the puppy pads in this case. Or you can get several litter boxes and fill them with different substrates to see what she prefers. Other options would be sand or even soil. I have also...
Oh, my heart goes out to you and your baby Kali! I have experience with several cats that had an eye removed. All of them recovered just fine. One of them was a 15 year old that had the lens slip in her eye, and even she was fine after the surgery. Actually she seemed better, probably because...
They can be bathed and it would probably make them feel better since cats are naturally clean animals. Baby shampoo is good for washing kittens. Wash them in warm water and be extra careful about the rinsing. Make sure the water is running clear and all the soap is off. Dry them really well with...
Hi @tomig I actually thought alot about your kitty issues and I hope I can give you some suggestions to help you and your cat. I applaud you for not wanting to just give up on her. That would be the easy thing to do, and I'm happy that you truly want find a solution. So let's go through your...
If you're concerned that your kitten may be peeing blood you can switch out the litter for shredded paper or puppy pads to see the color better. Just a thought. Hope kitty is ok :)
To give you a better idea on kitten sexing-look at their backsides and see how far apart the 2 holes are. If they are pretty close together it's a girl, if they are kinda far apart it's a boy. Good luck with your kittens and please get them spayed neutered!
Thank you @pinkdagger! My labor of love is definitely in shelter medicine, specifically shelter cats. I know I can't save them all, but I sure can try! lol
None of my cats are bothered by thunderstorms, but one my dogs hates them! My oldest daughter was terrified of thunderstorms when she was a baby. Guess no matter what the species, loud noises are scary to some, others not so much!
Love all the cute nicknames! Mine are
Buck-Mr. Sexy Pants, Buckaroni and cheeses, Buckstain, The Amazing Flying Bucky Cat
Mao-Mowsa, Maoi, Maui wowwi, Freako
Margaret-Margo, Margolicious, Margolatte, Large Marge
And any other colorful monikers that come flying out! lol
Hi @flutenotepoet! I just joined to day as well and was pleasantly surprised at the number of cat lovers and active forum posters too! I hope you enjoy the group too :)
Prayers for your baby Mason! I f you want a 2nd opinion then by all means take him to another vet. It's possible the 1st vet missed something. If you're still not satisfied ask to be referred to an appropriate specialist. Good luck!
