    Hi from Australia :)

Hi Natalie and welcome! I am also in Oz. Your Luna is quite a beauty. :wavey: Coco and Rose, I am also in Sydney. I am told the holistic vet in Balmain is very good. I believe there is a similar one in Annandale or Leichardt.

How to stop kitten play biting?

Hi dillydolly, I would encourage your partner to read this thread/ site.

New(ish) Cat Owner! And a picture of my baby!

Hi brookephus, I'm pretty new around here myself but I just wanted to share in your joy in finally being allowed to live with a kitty. Your Yui is adorable and sure does look like she has tortitude, just say in'. I really can't speak to the whole tortitude theory or the history of it but vets...

Still on my L Plates with the raw diet - any advice welcome!

Thanks Furmonster Mom. :) Peaches, I've just been converting everything from pounds and ounces to kilograms and grams. Luckily I have a digital scale that converts. I have been going off the cat info recipe and substituting the bone for 7 teaspoons of the calcium carbonate as Dr Pierson...

    Rotations

Hey Ritz, right this does make sense. Yes, you are right, most of the commercial raw food available here is kangaroo based which I had thought was probably not suitable, but again maybe I am wrongly assuming. Maybe I could use kangaroo instead of rabbit for the next stage in the journey.

    Rotations

Hi all, since reading here I am seeing the concept of rotations used. Is there a reason for this? As I have only just gained some confidence in feeding a balanced raw diet I am sticking to chicken thigh for now. But for the future, I was thinking of trying to source some rabbit (not yet as...

Still on my L Plates with the raw diet - any advice welcome!

Thanks Peaches. I pretty much top the food bowls up with water so that they have a sort of soup. I notice since doing this and not feeding dry that the actual water bowls are never used. Since using the calcium, I have noticed that Maddy's poop is very pale, dry and crumbly now whereas it...

Still on my L Plates with the raw diet - any advice welcome!

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will consider the eggshells. I actually do not know what the carb content of the dry food was because I was not reading the labels or thinking critically at that time. So the ammonia smell is not a problem?

Still on my L Plates with the raw diet - any advice welcome!

Hi guys! As I mentioned in my intro thread, I found my way here due to my older girl, Layla's health issues. I am ashamed that one of my kitties had to become very sick in order for me to answer the clue phone regarding nutrition, but it is what it is. Here is a brief summary of our journey...

    New Cat Owner

Hi kurayami! I often say that pet adoption should be government - sponsored because of the many benefits to our health. All the best to you and Montana.

what my vet said about raw diets

Haha! Sood is a better word for it because it sure ain't food. It's disguised as food. Shood? Lol I agree regarding vets basing their advice on the products they need to sell; for shame. Surely it breaches their ethical codes? Then again I distrust the human medical model and I guess the...

    raw feeding question

Hey jenniator! I totally understand the confusion when you first start trying to learn about raw diets but I promise you it will all begin to make sense eventually and your confidence will soar. If your kitty doesn't like the finely ground texture and you plan to add a calcium supplement instead...

what my vet said about raw diets

I agree regarding vets and nutrition; my vet goes blank when I mention diet and invariably says something like "I will need to look into that" or " nutrition is not really my thing". I do get sick of being told by the vet staff that my cat's teeth will suffer if I do not feed the dry food that...

How do your kitties wake you up in the morning?

What a beautiful boy you have there, JFED! Thanks for starting this topic. My Layla and Madeline are so different in the mornings. 6 AM is my wake up time on a working day and they generally wait till then and even a bit later on weekends, but usually they don't start the where is our breakfast...

    Hello

My all time favourite pic of Layla: Layla is the reason I found my way here as she was quite sick last year most likely from IBD, but no conclusive tests. After a week at the vet hospital and $1000 I began seriously researching feline nutrition, hence I found this site. I also learned a lot...

    Hello

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Here are my darling girls, Layla and Madeline. Layla I believe to be a Norwegian Forest; she is complicated and weird but very snuggly. Maddy on the other hand is as sweet as pie and also quite snuggly. Maddy is often called Mouse due to her tiny...
