I guess you're talking about the bit of meat that gets wrapped around between back of the blade and front of the auger ... I send the meat through twice, once with the larger plate then through the smaller plate. That meat that wraps between the back of blade and front of auger gets ground...

    Raw diet ... Liver

Yes, that's exactly it. His tummy has been so good these last few years since I switched to a raw diet, eating what he's eating now. The only thing I know for sure is that he cannot tolerate chicken or chicken liver. He could be fine with other things but I just don't want to chance it by...

    Raw diet ... Liver

It's not about being keen or not being keen on beef liver. My old boy is 15 years old and has always had a very sensitive stomach. I've finally got him to a place, diet wise, where he has no more tummy problems. Beef liver (or anything else) is just a risk I don't want to take if I don't have...

Need to know Alnutrin (non-calcium) ratio for home-cooked, and daily feeding amount

Yeah, it really does. More clean-up, cool down time before grinding etc. Really glad I don't do it any more. Really, the only difference I can see between surface cooking is in the event that the meat had a high load of bacteria on the surface. I which case, surface cooking would probably...

I went with a stainless steel Lem Big Bite grinder but if you were interested in the Tassin, the Lem may be well over your budget these days.

Need to know Alnutrin (non-calcium) ratio for home-cooked, and daily feeding amount

Don't have a lot to add that will help but ... I feed Turkey and some pork. The pork was added only because the turkey became difficult for me to get during the beginnings of covid. At any rate, I used to surface cook the turkey (thighs). It doesn't seem like it but it is quite a bit more...

    Raw diet ... Liver

Thank you both. I have since found 3 other brands of Turkey liver. Not available in the larger size like the Stewart brand was so quite a bit more expensive but at least it looks like I can still get the turkey.

    Raw diet ... Liver

Hi all. Long time member but haven't been here for a while. Stewart threw me a curveball by discontinuing some of their product line. I feed Turkey and a little pork to my 15 year old Himi. Been using Alnutrin with eggshell calcium since the start of raw feeding ... several years now. Kitty...

Stella &chewy freeze dried raw morsals

The S&C freeze dried varies in how hard or crumbly the morsels are. Just because they are hard I don't believe necessitates a recall. They are meant to be re-hydrated with water and while it may take a little more time for the hard nuggets to soak up the water, they still end up soaking it up...

Stella &chewy freeze dried raw morsals

Yep, it can do that. Bone content is high, around 10% I think. I figure that with the amount of the freeze dried that I mix in with the raw, probably 5% of my cats calories come from the freeze dried. That's a rough guess but it's probably fairly close. I'm consistent with it too because I...

Stella &chewy freeze dried raw morsals

I feed a little bit of the Turkey with his raw. Kind of like seasoning. Sometimes they are definitely softer than others. But, I use an old coffee grinder to grind them up either way. Much quicker to mix in a pinch of freeze dried "dust" with his wet food rather than breaking off a piece...

Anyone feeding Stella and Chewy's freeze dried Turkey dinner morsels?

Hey all. I feed a little bit of the S&C freeze dried turkey as a mix in with my cats homemade food. I usually buy it locally so I can check the date and make sure it looks OK. But, with Covid I've been picking it up on Amazon. It's usually less expensive locally as well. At any rate, I...

    premixes question

If you want to completely avoid chicken liver and use liver that you source youself, be careful which supplement you buy. EZ Complete and Young Again premixes, for example, both contain liver already (chicken and/or "poultry"). I'm not sure about all of the others out there but Alnutrin...

    frontline plus for dogs

The Bayer Advantage II formula is the same for both dogs and cats. Same exact ingredients in same exact percentages. The difference is the dosage. I use the Advantage II on my cat and I purchase the packages labeled for large dogs. Been doing it for years and years. I use 0.8 mL (applied...

    Stella and chewys calories help?

The nuggets are different sizes so the calories vary per nugget but calories per kilogram is noted on the back of the package. The Turkey, for example, is 4910 calories per kilogram. That's 4.9 calories per gram. The only way to nail it is to weigh each serving of nuggets before re-hydrating...

    Ez Complete Question

You really need to weigh if you lost the scoop, or even if you didn't. There is no way to accurately measure the amount of supplement outside of the approximate 2.5 gram measurements provided by the specific scoop. I don't use EZ Complete but personally, I would weigh rather than rely on...

How to make it more appealing..

You can try adding a little freeze dried as a topper or mix a little in. I still do this. Freeze dried generally has bone but it doesn't take much freeze dried to add some "seasoning" so the bone isn't necessarily an issue. It hasn't been for my cat.
