    too smart for toys

Hiding treats is good. We have a small place so they find them fast. I also throw dry food down the hall for them to chase. The latest game is pipe cleaners and tissue paper. Poke them out under the paper and the cats pounce!

    Anemic cat?

Hi Really sorry to hear about your trouble with kitty. I can offer my story if it will help. It has a positive ending! Well...so far :) Our cat Gayden was diagnosed with non regenerative anemia two years ago. He was lethargic for a few days and I initially thought it was the change in weather...

Anyone tried Hill's Urinary Stress canned food for their cats?

Yes, that's the one. Turkey also came to mind when the vet told me about the ingredients. I used to give the boys (our two cats) a bit of chicken in broth (all home made - no salt) each night to aid with Gayden's urinary issues. I couldn't get them to drink water, and wanted to be sure he was...

Anyone tried Hill's Urinary Stress canned food for their cats?

Hi there My cat Gayden has serious anxiety problems and is currently on medication to try and help this problem. The vet recommended Hills calming food for urinary problems to further help him, as he is still not very relaxed. Most things haven't worked to calm my cat down. We've tried Feliway...

    Anti-Anxiety drugs (Clomicalm) personality changes?

Thanks Anne! I'm really grateful to have something to read on the subject. He is back to his perky self now. It seemed to take exactly two weeks to metabolize in his body. My only worry now, is that all of his negative behaviour will start up again. He's pacing again (which has always...

Thanks :) I'll just hope that he becomes more of himself over the next few weeks :)

    Anti-Anxiety drugs (Clomicalm) personality changes?

I am going to keep him on the drugs for at least a month, I have no plans to suddenly discontinue the drugs. I will of course consult with the vet for sure. He's just a bit more vacant, robotic, lethargic, uninterested in me most of the time, just kind of subdued and defeated. I'm glad that...

    Anti-Anxiety drugs (Clomicalm) personality changes?

Hi all Sorry if this should have been under the health forum...not sure...my cat Gayden has a spraying problem (which the vet has said is behavioural - he has a clean bill of health) so last week we started him on a drug called Clomicalm. Believe me, we tried absolutely everything over the...

Taking a cat to the park?

I do worry about dogs. Last time when I took him out I brought his cat carrier with me so if he got scared he could easily run back into it. I think this is the safest way to take them out in public. But around my house they are ok. There aren't that many dogs. There is one that goes out without...

Taking a cat to the park?

He gets very anxious every evening starting around 7. He uses his litterbox, reluctantly. He's still traumatized from having a blockage two years ago. So he holds in his urine for hours and after he finally goes he races out of the box at full speed. I bought new litter boxes that are much...

Taking a cat to the park?

Oh that's awesome!!! Do you get him into the car, or do you simply walk to the parks? How do people react when they see him? I'd love to see pics of your cat on adventures, there's not nearly enough of this kind of stuff online!

Taking a cat to the park?

Yeah, I could do without the spraying that's for sure! He is neutered and we've simply run out of options at this point.

Taking a cat to the park?

I'll bet this sounds pretty weird, but lately I've been driving my cat out to parks and forests. He tolerates having a harness and leash on, but he hates lots of noise. I live in a townhouse that is completely over run by neighbourhood kids in all directions. They are very loud, throwing balls...

My cat peed on me!!!/ My living room is covered in plastic

Upon reading about medication for cats, it seems that they can't take them if they have kidney issues. Based on Gayden's last blood test our vet suspects that he's in the early stages of kidney problems. So I guess meds are out of the question for him :(

My cat peed on me!!!/ My living room is covered in plastic

Well, the last two nights he has sprayed our curtains again It's so frustrating how much of a permanent problem this is!!!!! The only thing that I can think of that triggered this, is that the patio door was open (screen closed) in the evening and that the sounds of cats out there stressed...

Feline Hyperthesia Sydrome and My Poor Cat

just be sure to get your cat to drink extra water. One of our cats ended up with crystals after 3 weeks without canned food. But it's an interesting thought, about the canned food. We don't know what chemicals are used - even just the tin itself...especially the ones that are white inside. My...
