The only "danger" in taking expired OTC meds is that they lose their potency. I take them and see if they work. If a med is like 10 years expired I think you should just toss it because the chances of you ever using it seems really low. I would just toss it in the garbage.

There was an episode of My Cat From Hell which broached this same issue. It turned out that the box was in a place that was easy to cut off (like a long hallway) . The cat that pooped just outside the litterbox was feeling trapped by the other cat (or something). Hope that made sense.
