Flecks of red in clear liquid and weird poop smelling hair ball vomit - vet stumped

Did it look similar to the picture I sent with the red specks? What was the treatment?

Flecks of red in clear liquid and weird poop smelling hair ball vomit - vet stumped

Yeah this vet isn’t new and she is the vet for the rescue I foster for so I’m really surprised she hasn’t seen it before. I’ll keep you updated! Thanks

Flecks of red in clear liquid and weird poop smelling hair ball vomit - vet stumped

I noticed some clear vomit with red specks in it and since I have 4 cats I isolated them overnight to figure out who was ill. The next morning I saw a reddish brown liquid and a hairball plug in one of the cats rooms. I thought it was vomit but the vet said it had a poop smell. I brought her to...

    Chronic Kidney Disease and vaccines?

Cat vaccines causing Chronic Kidney Disease? Has anyone done any research on this topic? Not sure if this is a case of only 1 study showing what he’s saying and how the risk of CKD is relative to panleukopenia

    Foster Cat is being adopted

We’ve been fostering for a while but I’ll be forced to take a break now because my partner is allergic so we try to give periods of relief :(

    Foster Cat is being adopted

Last year I got my first pregnant foster cat. She was really hesitant at first and would swipe me sometimes when she got overwhelmed. After her giving birth to 7 kittens, having lungworms purged from her body and having a broken tooth removed she is now my little shadow for the past few months...

Cat on Urinary diet still pees on the floor

How on top of litter box cleaning are you? I find that one of my cats expects a pristine box (scoop 2-3 times a day) or she will just do her business on the floor

Fostering cat mom and her litter

Hey everyone - just an update. All kittens were healthy and well and all got adopted within a month of posting! Mom has been having some health issues so she’s still not available for adoption but she’s an absolute sweety so I don’t mind at all :)

Rehoming some cats, and I feel horrible.

With no kill shelters I think everyone will have their own process. It’s likely they will be happy to let you foster the cats until they find an adopter. I find that friendly cats are well liked by no kill shelters because an unproblematic cat - with no vet bills - and is friendly will be...

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

When she attacks it’s more like a bit of a run over, and no fur is puffed up. Since the kittens are way smaller they do just surrender and run away and she doesn’t pursue them.

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

In another post I mentioned she also tries to attack them if they are wrestling super hard. When I use the cat teaser if they have a collision while trying to chase she will also get mad. I now just make sure to use two teasers at one. Since she seems to attack them when wrestling with the...

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

I have been keeping them separate unless supervised. What do you mean by cat music?

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

So one thing I am noticing now is if the kittens are having fun in the distance, like just playing with a ball, she will approach them and attack. Is this an example of not acceptable behaviour? I wonder if it has to do with her not liking the sounds

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

Thanks so much for the advice! I’m glad this is okay as the rescues are so overrun and I didn’t want to have to try to re foster home mom :)

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

I guess I’m a bit worried because the two new kittens are long hair fluff balls and I don’t want any blood to be drawn in order for me to know I should separate them. I have heard one reason cats will climb you and sometimes use claws is because they have thick skin and don’t realize us humans...

Older cat attacks kittens when they brawl

I’m not sure if she had full claws out but once I was holding the kitten while petting her (she usually just ignores the whole world if she’s getting pet) and she took a swipe and got my finger a bit so I do think she has claws out.

Older cat swatting kitten - what’s acceptable?

I have a foster cat that was a mom to a litter which has all been adopted out. Currently I’m trying to get her to colive with 4 kittens that aren’t hers. I’ve been separating them unless I’m there to supervise and I do think some kittens don’t know not to go near her yet. She seems to only hiss...

Older cat attacks kittens when they brawl

So I’ve been fostering a mom and her litter for a while. When I had only one remaining foster kitten to adopt I got her two new kitten friends. I kept them separated at first until Maggie (remaining kitten) clearly wanted to always be with them. In the first few days of coliving I noticed if the...

Fostering cat mom and her litter

The kittens seem to not be gaining very much weight recently but are not losing weight. Some gain just 3g and the ones who have always been good at nursing are still gaining around 10g a day. They are almost entering their 4th week and I was wondering if I should let them try wet food? Kitten...
