New cat hiding under couch bed

My rescue Len hid behind the washing machine for days, he came out for food and litter tray and to hiss and growl at me :crackup:I just sat in the kitchen talking to him and a bag of treats to lure him towards me when he popped his head out…a few days after he was sitting happily on my sofa...

    Begging for food

I had the same problem with my ex street cat..2 years in and i still have to split his meals into tiny portions so he thinks he’s not being starved, The other week i couldn’t get his normal food, and he refused to eat what I gave him..I was like wow I never thought it would happen. Like you I...

Why does our cat bite and hold?

My ex feral Len does the same, if it’s a attention bite its gentle, the want to play is not, tried a kicker toy..not interested. My flesh is much more appealing lol, so I’ve made padded sleeve for my arm and it’s his favourite game, but now if he wants to play he don’t bite, he rolls on his...

    Purring changed

Oh asthma he does cough occasionally, but so did my last cat i assumed it was hairballs. He seems to have picked up a bit, he’s been purring up my nose..gross I know but it’s his thing lol. No wheeze, but seems to be swallowing a lot so maybe he has a sore purr box..sorry don’t know the real...

    Purring changed

Heart, Lungs seem fine, temperature is fine she gave me some anti inflammatory and said come back in a week if he’s still off. On the plus side he was a perfect gentleman being a ex feral , although he wasn’t too impressed having his temp took lol

    Purring changed

Yeah i phoned them as soon as they opened. He’s just not right, he’s eating but he’s not begging for food like normal. I’ve just noticed one of his eyes is closed. Vet appointment is in a hour..I’ll let you know x

    Purring changed

Yesterday I noticed Lens purring has changed , there was the normal low rumbling with a high pitched wheeze. I noticed when he woke from napping his breathing was wheezy. He’s eating normally, dont appear ill although the random biting has returned ( he’s a ex feral ) so somethings not right...

I don’t know if I should keep my cat

Having adopted a bitey, scratchy ex feral i feel your pain. I found out thick gloves were my best friend. I didn’t confine him to a room, but I let him do his own thing..I never tried to pet him, waited until he came to me..which usually ended in me being mauled, but the thick gloved saved my...

My cat occasionally runs up to me, gently bites my leg, and meows urgently

He sounds just like my ex street cat len, He had varying degrees of bites, when I 1st got him every bite hurt, but over the year…well hes modified his “ language”. Gentle bite is cuddle me, sit down and let’s watch tv Bit firmer is Feed me now !!!!! Play time is a firm bite …with claws The...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Yeah same, I work shifts..so personal feed time impossible, another reason for the timer. I had one of the feeders you have for my old boy..but he only ate when hungry..this one would empty it in one go lol..he stole a bag of cheese flavoured treats ..boy did he have bright yellow poo hehe

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

I work shifts, so the timer is the only way of getting a schedule..if I’m sitting at the pc and it’s past feed time he just sits on the desk in front of me…yep he has me trained really well

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Well the feedings not really a issue, it’s the claws at playtime. Yeah 12 months ago it was pretty bad. Now he even refused to eat some food I got when I couldn’t get his normal brand. Stop the timer feeds..not a chance , I need my sleep or I’d be missing work. I split his food into lots of tiny...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

I think the shock of being woke up by a hard bite and me knocking him off the bed a few times cured that one, now he does it more subtly , gently chewing on my elbow, pawing my face, well he tries to be gentle bless him..or his latest jumping on me from the window. The high pitched owww seemed to...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Yes he can retract them, when I 1st met him at the rescue, he walked over to me, bit me and slapped me ..claws in. When he’s in a lap cat mood, he’s fine..he even likes a tummy tickle… the kneading is painful, but I just suck that up lol. When I’m eating he paws me claws in…it just when he want...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Its more the fact his claws are out even though he’s trying to be gentle, my old boy used to do the same but no claws goes with the territory of cat ownership I think. But it’s a improvement on the hard bite on the arm which he used to do. It’s not I nightly thing , he has a timed cat feeder cos...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Oh he’s doing great, considering I had to wear gloves for a month around him, I know he was found with abscesses on his paws that’s how he ended up in the shelter, maybe that’s why he’s so touchy..I can clean his ears no problem, a lot of grumbling but that’s it. Yeah I’ll try what you...

12 Months in with street cat, can anyone help?

Had Len a street cat 12 months now , approx 6 yrs from a rescue centre, they were open from the start saying he’d never be a lap cat, and had a biting and swiping issue. 12 months later, hes a lap cat when he chooses, follows me everywhere, never goes out unless he follows me round the garden...

    Was my cat abused?

I adopted a street cat Len about 8 months ago, he made his home behind the washing machine..the only thing that coaxed him out in the end was a trail of cat treats to me as I sat on the floor. I completely ignored him until he was ready, even then it usually ended with him swiping or biting me...
