Scaly rash and hair loss on ear

I wasn’t aware she had an infection before, they had swabbed her ears to see if there was bacteria because they looked dirty when I brought her in for her yearly checkup. It was both ears then, but the problem was only internal not external. They just gave me broad spectrum antibiotic drops...

Scaly rash and hair loss on ear

As I was reading this I saw her scratching inside her ear with her paw. I do have ear drops left over from when she had an ear infection like 5 months ago. I’ll use those and see if it gets better. If I call the vet Monday I couldn’t get her in until Thursday because of my work schedule. I...

Scaly rash and hair loss on ear

I’ve moved in with my boyfriend since then so totally different house and cleaning supplies. It could possibly be seasonal allergies. Pollen is huge right now and one cat has to take cetirizine. This cat is on prescription food and is totally inside so her exposure to things is limited.

Scaly rash and hair loss on ear

Does anyone know what causes this? One of my other cats had this happen on both ears one year. I took her to the vet but they referred me to a dermatologist and gave her amoxicillin just in case it was a bacteria. It went away with the antibiotics so I didn’t make an appointment with the...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

I’m scared. I’m scared I can’t help her. I’m scared to lose her. I’m taking them both to the vet Friday. I don’t know why she won’t get better.

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

An update.... Alice finished a 10 day course of augmentin and two days later she’s back to using the litter box every 3 minutes. I haven’t let her and ping ping fight at all. They have only had positive interactions. She’s been on Amitriptyline 5mg for 5 days. I haven’t noticed anything...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

When there’s food in the picture they don’t even see each other. As soon as the food is empty, Ping is like “oh wait. I need to kill that cat.” I wish I could dump tuna juice on both of them. For real. They could be in a death brawl and they will pause it to lick tuna. Then back to fighting.

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

True. I’ll give him another chance with what you all recommend now that I tried what he recommended. I’m calling in the morning and I can print and fax the article form work. There’s another big chain animal hospital near me but the reviews are horrendous. Like they just process you in...

Litter mates had encounter with outside cat, now hate each other

I hope your cats go back to bonded. I’m feeling your pain. I’m having the same issue with two of my cats. They just want to murder each other when they used to be inseparable. Theirs was triggered by one of them having bladder infections and really smelly urine. Hope can’t be lost...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

yeah, definitely paradoxical. She was acting like my other cat when I picked her up after getting spayed and was coming off of the anesthesia. A drunk, angry, confused Tasmanian devil. She was audibly sniffing everything and growling at the carpet. Then she collapsed on my lap and looked up at...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

Ok I’m never giving her diazepam again. This is awful. It’s like she’s drunk and scared and panicking and howling. This is awful. I feel so bad I gave it to her. Not a calming effect at all.

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

After all that the vet said the liver effects of diazepam are very rare and he’s never seen it. He wants me to try the diazepam. I gave one dose to her this morning. I didn’t notice any change in her behavior. She still hissed when ping got near her and ping stalked and attacked. I gave up and...

I’m a pharmacist so I have a good knowledge of how drugs work on humans, I just have zero training on veterinary medicine. 😣

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

The Feliway may very well work on Alice and KiKo. But they are so sweet I couldn’t tell the difference lol. Ping ping on the other hand is not phased. She’s grumpy as ever. Like a troll set out to get all intruders. It would be too easy if I could just buy feliway. I have 3 diffusers up...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

I really like the idea of having them both on meds. SSRIs sound like a good idea. Am I understanding correctly that the diazepam 5 mg 1/2 tab twice daily is a bad idea? Her liver is fine right now based on labs. My vet has been practicing forever so he may not be up to date on that. I...

Constant Feline Idiopathic Cystitis issues and aggression

This thread is an expansion on this one of mine: Aggression towards sick cat I read this thread today: My cat (still) pees outside of the litter box even after vet visit. and it's identical to my story. Alice the FIC cat has had blood work, urine cultures and urinalysis, and ultrasounds in...

My cat (still) pees outside of the litter box even after vet visit.

Has anything changed since january? I'm having the exact same issues, plus aggression from a house mate during episodes of urinating outside the box.

    Aggression towards sick cat

Thanks for the links. I’ll try the vanilla thing. She was diagnosed with FILUTD after three occurrences last year. They did urine cultures and urinalysis and blood work, and couldn’t find bacteria or crystals or stones. The vet said I didn’t have to bring her in, unless the flare didn’t...
