Giving Back My New Rescue Cat?

I don't know if others would agree but in this case, I think I would opt for a kitten of similar age, and I would do it quickly.

Did I Do The Right Thing? What Should I Do Now?

Yeah, if you could get me a Megapurraise button for Norachan's sage advice, that'd be great, thanksss... Brava! Bravissima!

Giving Back My New Rescue Cat?

Some cats simply don't like sharing human attention with other cats. I had one cat who hated being around other cats but didn't mind dogs one bit, loved being around them, in fact. One thing is for sure, your special needs kitty requires your attention and nurturing, and the current arrangement...

    Need Some Advice

Poor baby! For starters and until you can get him to the vet, put an E-collar on him so he can't continue licking and dab some regular original neosporin ointment on the sore. Since you noticed this on New Years Day, it could be a result of over-grooming due to stress from loud New Years Eve...

Trance-like Intense Neck Scratching & Gashing

Thanks Valentine. The nail glue that I picked up at CVS was Kiss in the bottle with the skinny nozzle. Precision, I think? If it doesn't work for us, I'll try getting my hands on asp and/or Mia's. And yes, we trim both claws and caps before applying. Appreciate the tips!

Trance-like Intense Neck Scratching & Gashing

Hah! Add some brandy and a squeeze of lemon and have myself a hot toddy! It's always the same spot, but I don't think it's an itch. I won't rule it out of course, but to me it seems neurological. I'll try the lukewarm chamomile compress anyway. It certainly can't hurt! It will have to wait...

Trance-like Intense Neck Scratching & Gashing

*SIGH* I'm back. Sooooo..... We are reaching our wits' end with Ginger, or as we've started calling her, Coney Maloney. We've tried the claw caps - still have not completely given up on them, but inching closer to it by the day. The first time, we waited until her neck was pretty much healed...

I'm Sure This Has Been Answered A Million Times..

Definitely do some scent swapping while you wait for the all clear from the vet. If there's a towel or sheet that your indoor boys normally lay on, bring it out to Binks for him to smell and hopefully lay on. But until you get the vet's ok, you can't give it back to your boys unless you launder...

    Impossible Cat

@LeiLana80 try looking into a "challenge" feeder. I have 2 grazers and 1 wolfer who was getting rather hefty from overeating. We got the Trixie feeder and the wolfer has trimmed back down to a healthier size.

Took In A Stray Cat Recently, Feeling Stressed, Possible Depression, Having Adopter's Remorse

Wonderful! It sounds like all of you are readapting already. You'll know you've done the right thing when you regularly see her happy to spend time with you by her bush once more. And now if there is ever threatening weather (cyclones, flooding rains, etc.) you can feel comfortable bringing her...

Relocating To Another State By Airplane And Have Two Cats.

Also, and especially if you're moving from NC to FL, coming from and going to the East coast, consider Amtrak, if it turns out that you can't drive down or have a 2nd person fly with you. Takes longer, but it may turn out to be more feasible for you.

Trance-like Intense Neck Scratching & Gashing

I'm happy to report that after a couple of days of getting gooped with Neosporin and a week of donning the Cone of Shame, Ginger is well on the way to recovery. She scabbed so well that we only gooped her twice, and by morning on the fourth day, the scabs stared falling off revealing healthy new...

    Some Cat Questions

Observe if she reacts to sudden loud noises. If they don't ever even faze her, you can assume she's deaf.

Anyone Else Have A Cat That Snores?

Dora snores, too. Don't know how early on it started since the first couple of years she would rarely sleep inside, but we've known this for at least a few years now and she's around 7 years old now. She even has a few different snores, it's really cute.

Took In A Stray Cat Recently, Feeling Stressed, Possible Depression, Having Adopter's Remorse

A huge plus for you with the indoor/outdoor arrangement that I forgot to mention is no claw trimming! When she is outside, she will do what comes naturally and sharpen her claws on tree trunks and exposed roots! Just be sure to put flea drops on the back of her neck once a month and take her to...

Pregnant Stray- Don't Know What To Do

I know it sounds horrible and may cause you some heartache, but you may want to consider having her spayed before she has those kittens, if possible. She may be carrying up to 8 kittens, and unless you can guarantee that they will all have homes and are 100% sure that they will all be spayed or...

Took In A Stray Cat Recently, Feeling Stressed, Possible Depression, Having Adopter's Remorse

Like you, I live in place with relatively low traffic and in a climate where stray and feral cats can thrive on their own. There are plenty of birds, lizards, etc. to hunt, always a puddle of water to drink from, etc., and no danger of predators like coyotes nor severe weather that they cannot...

    What Would You Do

I just saw this in another thread, seems it could be useful in your situation: I read about some people in New York that were making shelters for feral cats in the neighborhood using the large foam boxes that grocery stores ship meat in. I just did a google search for winter feral cat shelter...

    What Would You Do

Start with getting her scanned for a microship, as others have suggested. It's a long shot, but it's the path of least resistance. Since you cannot bring her inside, see if you can put together a makeshift shelter for her, cardboard box wrapped in thick plastic (like heavy duty garbage bag)...
