Mia6 Mia6 I bet your quilt is lovely. Personally, I've never bought a thing at Neiman Marcus!

Ten minutes before the drywall guy was supposed to show up last night, he sent me a text, saying that he couldn't make it. He didn't suggest another time, just said, "Can't make it". It's frustrating. You know, we pay people right away when they do stuff for us; they NEVER have to wait for their money. If they want half up front, we give it to them, no argument. A lot of times, I'll even offer to pay them half up front, just so they have the money for supplies and things they might need. We're not hard to deal with at all. I don't understand why people don't want to work with us. Is it because we're doing such little projects that it's not worth their time? I'm starting to get paranoid.

My sister and I have talked about this before; we swear that we're going to start taking drywall classes and other types of home improvement classes, just so we can help people with smaller projects. We talked about it again last night and she said that since I'm retiring, I might as well start in with classes and practicing. Yeah, I know there's a lot more involved in doing home projects, but dang it, at least we could do our own blasted work, if nothing else!
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked four miles and got ready for work. (The Beast has been hanging around the cats too long; she drank some water this morning, gave a huge belch, and probably threw the water back up. Walked about a foot onto the living room carpet and BURP! Whoosh! *long drawn-out, heavy sigh* Dear Richard was not amused. He said, "That's something the cats would do!" Thankfully, he cleaned it up this time.)
  • Work on some weeding tonight
And that's pretty much it for the day.

Thanks. It is nice. Very cosy and soft.

Nicole had the same problem last year when they had their kitchen redone. It was
supposed to be finished by July, ha!! Was finished in December. He would not return texts, same as what you're going through. He was semi-retired and had previously constructed very expensive homes. Maybe he didn't think a kitchen do-over was that important but they saved a long time for it. It did turn out amazing though. Your shed will be as well!! :yess:

We had no trouble at all with the kitchen remodel. Everything came together, guys worked with no issues. It went well. The bathroom was horrible, trying to get people to come in. The finished bathroom is really nice and we love it, but it took way longer than we thought it would. After that was done, though, we agreed: NO MORE REMODELING, NO MORE CONSTRUCTION! And yet, here we are.

Rick did tell me last night that he talked to a construction/drywall guy who seems interested in what we're doing. He told him that he'd be at the house sometime Thursday morning to see the shed. We'll see what happens. I don't have a lot of faith. Why? Because this is the same guy who told us he'd do the bathroom for us and then backed out. And never gave us a reason why. I asked Rick why he even called the guy. *long, drawn-out, heavy sigh*

Rick just texted me to say that I should have moved the Tucson before I came into work this morning. I told him to get the extra key from the drawer and move it. He did. I'm assuming that means the guy is there to dig the electrical trench from the house to the McShed. :yess: Gosh, I hope so! We need that trench dug so the electrical wiring and cables can get to the shed. Once that's done, we can continue with insulating. Things go slowly.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked four miles, sorted three loads of laundry, and got ready for work
  • Trash night
  • Laundry night

We're getting there.....slowly. The trench (or I should say "moat!") is finished. I came home yesterday to a wide ditch going from the house to the McShed. Rick parked his truck across the top of the driveway to stop people from barreling up and trying to park there. That could be ugly. And hopefully the drywall weenie will be there this morning.

Man, I did not want to come into work this morning. Oh, I feel OK, but I'm just feeling very lazy. Didn't want to walk, don't want to work. Alas, I'm sitting in my office with my morning coffee. Phooey
  • Breakfast for the furkids, walked 1.5 miles, said "Nahhh!" and went back to bed with the M & Ms, Molli curled up next to me on my pillow and Muffin curled up at my belly. Fell back asleep, got back up, grabbed a quick shower, and came to work.
Not much going on today.

Mia6 Mia6 I hope you're feeling better. :hugs:

It's been a busy day. I took my last vacation day from 2018 today. Rick and I went down to the Green Dragon, had a bit of a late lunch at Outback (just French onion soup and a salad) and then toured a lavender farm on our way home, where we bought some Lavender Dark Balsamic Vinegar. I thought it might make a good salad dressing. It was a nice day. We got home around 4:00 or so.

After we got home, we changed our clothes. I scooped the boxes, Rick went out and mowed the yard, while I worked on deadheading flowers and weeding. And raked/picked up the latest batch of black walnuts that fell from the tree. Swept the front stoop and the front sidewalk from my weeding. I just heard the lawn mower shut down, so he'll be in the house soon.

It's only 8:30 and it's already getting dark outside.

Need to rest my hip a bit more.
May I ask what is wrong with your hip? What are your specific symptoms?
I may be able to give you pointers on how to alleviate your pain which may even improve your hip function and some chronic issues you have with it.

On my list of things to do today.
Go get groceries, buy a new door knob for our front door and install it, start to clean out and organize my spare room.

Jem Jem I contracted Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in 2000 from shoulder/biceps tendon surgery. It is now systemic so I have flare-ups. My hip doesn't usually hurt but I was looking for the Vincie girl and stepped in a hole in my neighbor's yard because it's been so wet. My hip was sore and it felt as though it couldn't support me but it's better now. I take strong pain meds, do exercises, soak in Epsom Salts, and use moist heat. I cannot tolerate ice. Also I have massages which really help.

Cleaned the boxes twice!
Tea
Sat out with my girls as it's going to be 90 today and they won't be allowed out.

Another busy day on Saturday. Did some running in the morning. Rick put a new chain on the chain saw and continued his work on removing old branches from some of the trees. Then he finished mowing the back yard. Me? I was in the house doing my cleaning thing: vacuuming, dusting, wiping down the kitchen and bathroom, cleaning windows, all that good stuff. Did a load of towels while I was at it. Cleaned the pool. And then we went to Best Buy and Lowes; neither store had cat 6 ethernet cable in the length I needed, nor did they have the access point. I ended up coming home and going to Amazon, which is probably what I should have done to begin with. The stuff should be here tomorrow sometime.

On another front, I received an email that the new computer has been shipped. No word yet on when it will arrive.

So today.....
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, Rick stripped the bed and put the sheets in the washer, and I'm sitting back here on the laptop with my morning coffee. I'll scoop the boxes in a few minutes.
  • Three loads of laundry to do
  • Work on a bit of a grocery list for tomorrow night
  • Visit with Rick's mom tonight
Work tomorrow! Phooey! But the good news is that I am now down in double digits for retirement; I finally am down below 100 working days to my retirement date....not that I'm counting. ;)

Back to work this morning. Phooey. Rick has a dental appt today. Other than that, he has some union business to catch up on.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked two miles, and got ready for work
  • Grab a few groceries tonight and pick up my meds at Target
  • Get out into the yard; we've really been attacking our yard the last week or so

Rick has contract negotiations today; the local voted down the proposed contract last month. So they're back to the drawing board. I'm sure it will be......interesting.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked about two miles, and got ready for work. It's getting steamy again and I simply don't want to walk in that humidity.
  • Clarence and I stopped for gas this morning
  • Grabbing groceries tonight (last night my sister, BIL, and their granddaughter visited with us, so we didn't make it to the store)
  • At some point, I'll scoop the boxes tonight
And that's pretty much it.

YES This! You would be surprised how many people want help with these kinds of things, and that contractors are hard to find that are dependable. I think you girls could have a good little business going to earn some cash.

Good luck on your coming retirement!

Been tackling annoying little projects inside..I have a tendancy to make piles of "stuff" I may use in the week and of course I don't..so the kitchen table is slowly getting cleared and putting things in the cabinets..hoping I don't forget I have said items next year and reorder lol.
Cleaned up some cardboard that we had stashed-broke it down-will tape up for dump.

Tonight is water flowers and tomatoes
Wash out cat boxes and put in new litter. I am going to go down to 1 catbox since she isn't using the other 2... so that will eliminate some clutter and the hallway won't have the box in it anymore.

Too hot and swampy to do much else.

...with the cats...
it's just barely into 'today' here, but i have done a few things already, and have planned things i'll get done later today.

i've paid a bill, and have decided on a salsa recipe. later today, i'll start prepping for making the salsa -- just a half recipe.

i'll wash the dishes, scoop the litter boxes, and make 2 liters of root beer.

after that, i'll play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.

do a load of smalls. I have an appt later on so I'll find something to wear other
than pj bottoms that I wear when it's so hot. Thin, soft, cotton. I think I'll wear yoga pants, a tank and a light-weight blouse over the tank, and sneakers.
