Here's Isabel. We thought we had a chance ... and then we saw Jorge. :)

Overwhelmed! Please Help Me and My Constipated, Rotten-Toothed Cat

Just swinging by to let you know Isabel seems to have adjusted brilliantly to the new HT diet. Hooray! The toothbrushing thing is also coming along -- slowly, but I'm making progress. She loves the poultry toothpaste and likes chewing on the brush and rubbing her head against it, but as soon...

How does your cat show her/his love for you?

Now that I'm paying more attention I just noticed another tiny love signal: when Isabel is half-snoozing (usually in prawn position), if I sweet-talk to her she'll sometimes make a little "mrrr" and curl and uncurl her front paws. Just once. Or sometimes she'll hug her front paws around her back...

How does your cat show her/his love for you?

My cat Isabel is not the kind of kitty you can really snuggle or pick up, or even pet too much without her getting overwhelmed, so her love messages are on the more subtle side: - flopping on the floor and flipping back and forth, showing her belly, stretching, all the while making sure that...

Cross country move with anxious cat who poops/pees during any sort of travel. Fly or drive?

I agree that flying sounds like a last resort. This may be impossible due to lack of space, but I would think that maybe a larger crate would help. Like, one big enough to hold her as well as a small litter pan -- sort of along the lines of the small enclosures they have at the vet's for...

    What do I do?

While coaxing a semi-feral kitty into becoming more affectionate and trusting can be incredibly rewarding, it's not for everyone, and certainly not something I would want to go into unknowingly. It sounds to me like maybe the person you got Bea from was aware of her skittish nature, but maybe...

    Does my kitten have fleas?

I hate to say it, but yeah, that sure does look like a flea to me! Disclaimer: I'm not an official flea-identifier or flea-related professional of any sort. But that's my layperson opinion :)

    Unexpected attacks from cat

My cat does this to me, too! I think it's some weird kind of state-dependent learning because she only does it when I'm going upstairs at bedtime or to take a nap. She's especially likely to do it if I'm barefoot. I think it's a version of playing for her, but, like your cat, she does go all-out...

Why are male cats more affectionate than female cats?

Every cat person I know says the same thing: male cats tend to be more affectionate. I've had lovely affectionate female cats, but my personal experience is that they do tend to be harder to "win over" than male cats. I wonder if it's related to how in the wild female cats are the ones more in...

    Stray Won't Play

There is a toy called a cat dancer that moves very similar to a fly ... maybe you could tempt him with that?

Overwhelmed! Please Help Me and My Constipated, Rotten-Toothed Cat

Woo hoo! Hare Today order arrived a couple hours ago and boy am I glad I ordered those extra ice packs, because with the exception of the bottom of the 5 lb meat and some of the rabbit chunks, the entire order was completely thawed. All still cold, though, and smelled fine, so I'm not worried...
