Hello Cat Lovers! Happy Friday everyone!
My cat is a door-dasher/escape artist. My large balcony has been turned into a catio, and has a cat door so he can go outside anytime he wants, but he likes going out the front door, and I live next to a canyon in Austin, where there are many coyotes...
I agree. Please do whatever you need to do regarding tree decor, to ensure your kitty will not die. If you can’t get them to a place that kitty can’t reach and can’t find a deterrent, one might consider, are the lights really that important?
Please make sure your other 2 cats were vaccinated for feline herpes!! This is imperative!! I had almost this exact same situation, about 30 years ago. I was young, and not very well trained on cats at that moment, and thought that if I had an indoor cat that they didn’t need shots. I brought a...
Reason I purchased retired breeder in mid-August 2022, and did not rescue from shelter: I lost a beloved kitty to cancer in April of 2022. Then brought home a rescued kitty from a shelter in June 2022, from what turned out to be a horrible shelter (even though they have good reviews and are very...
Final update. Stevie and Kittybear are the best of friends. They lay next to each other multiple times a day and both like to groom each other. It’s turned out to be a match made in heaven. It took about 6 weeks for them to start to like each other. Their fights now cause no scabs.
She is...
So, a robot litter that I used ruined 2 perfectly awesome kitties, in my past. They never went outside of the litter box until the robot litter was in the house for a month or two. Got rid of the robot litter box and they both continued to pee on the floor for the rest of their lives. I will...
@Astragal14
Oh! Thank you so much for all of these details and thoughts! It is very comforting to hear that your babies are similar. My gut says they are starting to adore each other (dream come true), so I will keep my feelers out on the scabs on her back, and hope things keep progressing...
Questions for all:
1) Regarding Automatic Feeders: will I screw up my relationship building with new cat if I start using an automatic feeder with both cats?
2) My resident cat chases new cat, and bites at new cat's back, and she/new cat has a few scabs on her back, actually, there are more...
WHAT IS WORKING IS: ***I've been preparing cat meals for both cats in my pantry/laundry room (just off the kitchen). This has reduced new, hungry cat's aggression toward me (screaming/yeowling) and resident cat (boxing) significantly! YAY!
Hi Astragal14! Thanks so much for your reply! I really love what your vet said, and I've heard Jackson Galaxy say pretty much the same thing. JG says if there is no blood and no fur flying, that it is what it is, and this may just be their reality. So, I do appreciate that and try to remember...
Hi iPappy, When new cat starts boxing during meal prep, resident cat just looks annoyed, but later every day, resident cat chases new cat, and bites at new cat's back, and she/new cat has a few scabs on her back, actually more every morning when I check. I'm not sure if it's play gone wrong or...
Hello, I totally understand, and I've had kitties on steroids before, and yes, it is a very different kind of hunger. Sorry for the "off" reply. The CatMate C500 & C300 automatic feeders have space for ice packs, comes with one set of ice packs, and extra ice packs are available for purchase...
Hello, I'm having the same problem with my new cat (age 3.5). I purchased a slow feeder for her, and that did help some. I purchased a few slow feeders, and after trying all of them decided this was the best for my new kitty: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GFCH4DK/?tag=thecatsite. The other ones...
