New-ish cat hissing when I enter safe room

thanks I’ll do that! I always sit down at my desk in the room after I put the food down and she seems totally fine and just keeps eating before perching back up in the cat tree. It’s always fine once the food is down, it’s just the process of getting it there that she’s scared of.

New-ish cat hissing when I enter safe room

she is 1 year old, I adopted her from a foster who has had her since she was a kitten (not sure exactly what age but the earliest vet record shows she was 14 weeks old, so at least that young). The foster was able to pet her, hold her and she would fall asleep in her arms. Apparently she was...

New-ish cat hissing when I enter safe room

So I have a new issue with my cat I adopted almost 2 weeks ago…she used to only hiss at me if I got too close to her, and usually only once. Now she’s figured out the routine that I come into her safe room with breakfast every morning around 730. She waits behind the door, and as soon as I crack...

Help with cleaning kitty litter without a vacuum?

I have had my adopted cat for a little over a week now and she's still scared of her new home to say the least...I have been letting cat litter slowly accumulate on my carpet because it honestly hasn't been that bad and I didn't want to scare her with the vacuum. Well, it's getting to the point...

Should I let my cat out of the safe room?

Thanks for the advice! I'll try this over the next few days and see how it goes, I'm hoping it does help her acclimate better. I let her do her thing for the past hour and so far she seems to be happy, though cautious.

Should I let my cat out of the safe room?

I have had my newly adopted cat for a week today. She is definitely NOT fully comfortable with me yet...I stay with her most of the day in her safe room which is my work-from-home office. she doesn't let me approach her or try to hand feed/play with her without hiding or hissing. She will...

Adopted cat showing signs of adjusting but then...

In addition, is there any reason to take her to the vet if I know she's up to date on vaccines and showing no obvious signs of being unhealthy? I've heard you're supposed to take a new cat to the vet within the first week, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable by bringing her there.

Adopted cat showing signs of adjusting but then...

Hi everyone, so I adopted a cat from a foster 5 days ago (I know, it's only been a short time but I want to make sure I do everything right). She is a little over a year old and she had been with the foster for about 10 months prior. The first meeting with her, the foster brought her over to my...
